Deathray 2,940 Posted October 20, 2019 Okay one for those of you who actually follow this weird game. Why do rugby world cups take so bloody long? Football World Cup (32 teams) 2018 - 4 weeks 2014 - 4 weeks 2010 - 4 weeks Rugby World Cup (20 teams) 2019 - 7 weeks 2015 - 7 weeks 2011- 7 weeks Your matches are 80 minutes instead of 90 minutes? You have 20 teams rather than 32 teams? You play a total of 48 matches instead of 64 matches? What the fuck is making you take 3 weeks longer? And don't get me started on Rugby League, a mere 28 matches and it takes them 6 weeks......

the_engineer 1,414 Posted October 21, 2019 Would Love an England vs Wales final. Sadly can't see it happening. I'd fancy England to beat South Africa though if Wales and England had each other's draws. New Zealand by 18 South Africa by

Deathray 2,940 Posted October 22, 2019 2 hours ago, Sir Creep said: you can’t be that dumb. It's a genuine question. It's not about being dumb. On the surface there is no logical reason for the rugby world cup to take three weeks longer than the football world cup with shorter matches and as pointed out by redrumours, no injury time or extra time. 1
TQR 14,350 Posted October 22, 2019 To be fair, and this is as someone who loves rugby and despises football, I've not a clue why that many matches takes as long as it does. I'm all for it lasting 7 weeks, but only with more teams in it.
the_engineer 1,414 Posted October 22, 2019 I wonder if it's to do with potential concussions and allowing the body to recover. I imagine a rugby game takes its toll on the body more than football game. 1
