Nearly time for our annual check-up on Bart's health. Unbelievably, he still appears to be going strong and has entered a horse in this year's Cup. Go Bart go! It is that time of year again... Bart didn't have a horse in the Cup this year but that doesn't stop our annual health check! Here is a photo of the old boy from a few days ago. Do we think he will last another year? It is that time of year again... Here is our annual Bart Cummings health check for 2014: We are sure that the guy on the right isn't just some kind of twisted puppeteer?

'bout fuckin' time frankly, quite a few DJs (myself included once over) have bored listeners by putting "Taurus" back to back with "Stairway to Heaven." Bring on It's a Beautiful Day dragging the surviving Deep Purple Mk 2s into court to question the parentage of "Child in Time." None of these people at the time seriously thought they were writing music that would have such staying power, or so many lawyers making money off it 45 years later. Oh aye, and The Blues Magoos might have summat to say about Deep Purple's "Black Night"...I could go on but, rant over! Jon Lord never hid that fact though - quite the opposite! The thing about Stairway is that Randy California had all the time in the world to sue but didn't, because all he wanted was a thank you or acknowledgement from the Zep boys. Which never came. Now, whoever holds rights to his music must see this as an easy money maker. From memory, California's band toured with Zeppelin in the late 60s, playing Taurus as part of their gig. Within a few years, Zep release a highly familiar sounding song. Its a bigger open and shut case than My Sweet Lord. Trivia fact which, I think, is true; that moment in Spinal Tap where it is revealed the beautiful piano melody is called "Lick my Love Pump"...Jon Lord wrote that little piano piece.

The longer we go with no news of Clarissa Eden or Mary Wilson the more I begin to think their deaths may have gone tragically unnoticed. There both very old and on the fringes of fame in modern terms, Clarissa Eden being Britain's first lady before the majority of people alive today we're born. Mary Wilson was a published poet as well, so I can't see her not getting an obit. Neither of them were ever "First Lady", incidentally. The UK is a monarchy, so if that title were to be used, it would be held by the Queen [/pedantry]
