Salmon Mousse 473 Posted January 1, 2022 I've seen every single one of my 2-3 unique hopefuls already listed as being picked to other teams. Will not have any this year and, again, I can foresee all the parody leading to a very unsatisfying conclusion to this year's game. Was able to somehow win last year without a unique hit or joker hit, though, so I suppose anything's possible.

TBH I think wins like yours or Dr T are going to be more the norm henceforth than mine or Reptile's. Too many top research games nowadays in contrast to when DDT and later Spade had a clear edge over the rest.
msc 18,439 Posted January 1, 2022 @Gooseberry Crumble Ah Ron Davies, the famous fox admirer! I was partly through an anecdote about Lynda Chalker when I realised I was thinking of Angela Rumbold, who is older and dead.

My win before, and Death Impends the year before was a win achieved through unique hits. I wouldn't call any method preferable. In the end, if you get 20 hits, you win. And you had, with 2 hits difference, just such a rock solid team, in a year where supposedly safe picks (Tom Parker/Smith/James Whale) failed. That's a great quality.

Think I might bring back The Rookie Draft as my theme team this year. Early retirement.

He used to be Germany's Simon Cowell for 20 years, then got fired, probably for age reasons, last year. His most prominent health issue though, is his penis fracture that happened about 20 years ago. That said, he has bonafide star credentials and Modern Talking is HUGE in Eastern Europe.

Salmon Mousse 473 Posted January 1, 2022 Well, here's my apparently very unimaginative 2022 main team entry. The path forward to any respectability will be via the Drop 40 bonus, apparently. Gary Burgess - JOKER - seemed the safest option for a decent point joker after last year's Parker debacle Mustafa Kayirici - would have been my joker if I was completely confident the pick would be accepted Frank Field - "safe" pick, will Drop 40 Susie Steiner - "safe" pick George Alagiah - "safe" pick, will Drop 40 George Perez - should hit fairly early in the year Larry Pressler - not enough points, in all honesty, but I went heavy on pan-can this season Russell Bishop - prisoners "with weeks/months to live" make be nervous (because they all seem to say that) but I have two on the team anyway Rob Burrow - reminds be of Marián Čišovský when he neared the end, young, will Drop 40 Tim Bilton - this pick was just lazy, will Drop 40 however Robert Durst - "safe" pick, potential to Drop 40 Dame Clare Marx - was only mentioned once on the forum prior to picks being revealed, didn't think she'd be unique but figured she wouldn't be shared by many, went heavy on pan-can this season Sacheen Littlefeather - a very Susan Bayh/Mary Fairhurst name and those are names I gave up on elsewhere and regretted Tom Smith - "safe" pick, will Drop 40 Bill Turnbull - "safe" pick, will Drop 40 Shannen Doherty - wanted not to pick her but seems her spark is fading now, too young and too Drop 40 not to roster James Whale - "safe" pick, will Drop 40 Jane Marczewski (Nightbirde) - a no-brainer really, worth a sizeable chunk of points and the Sun's obsession with her makes an obit a slam dunk Linda Nolan - ditto Sacheen Littlefeather, also will Drop 40 Pele - this year's Bob Dole, can't imagine he won't Drop 40 so he's an easy 9 pointer Had 15 hits for 144 points last year, which is a 9.6 pph average. Tried to keep that math in mind.
