I am not giving up without a fight.  The 10cc track is clever and subversive. If I do lose out I hope their next appearance will be better appreciated

Gotta say I'm bemused by the popularity of the Sweet song.  I know they were better than this but were forced to churn out bubblegum pop.  Not to my taste.

Nor mine. But then I remember that all of these things got to number 1, including tie a yellow ribbon (gag), Long haired lover (gag again) and a swathe of stuff by Donny Osmond and David Cassidy (bleargh) that only 13 year old girls can possibly have bought and I think, ach it's not that bad comparatively.

But yes, a bit mystified by its popularity here.

Edit: Oh and somebody please kill jiving babies quickly so we can get on :D

Of the five songs I picked out at the beginning of the round it looks like only one will make it through to the next round and that is The Sweet

I really struggle to find five I like out of that lot.  If pushed, I'd have to say:

You Wear It Well, School's Out, Eye Level, Can the Can, and yes, Amazing Grace.

Without You and Vincent are classy songs, but too miserable for me.

My favorite songs out of this round are "Without you" and "Vincent" but the songs that stuck in my head all the time were "Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" and "Son of my father". I really don't know why.

Just read back on the last couple of weeks. I’m delighted that Coz I Luv You got into the final!

As for this round, the vast majority of it is utter tripe, but my personal top 5 would’ve been:

Cum On Feel The Noize

Rubber Bullets

School’s Out

erm…

Metal Guru

Merry Xmas Everybody

Itching for the next round now…
