This is how idioms are born. I typically agree with your grammar grumpiness, but you’re off base on this one.

Some people may be using it this way, but hoi polloi have given up using "hate" by itself in favour of "hate on". They think that's correct.
The Old Crem 3,703 Posted November 29, 2024 The Assisted Dying bill strongly backed by Esther has passed its second reeding stage 330 to 275. Probably a big enough margin that it might also pass third reading as well because I am not sure they are enough of the David Davis view to vote for Second reading but minded to reject later on. Suspect she will be on the Radio later to talk about as she was on LBC the other day briefly.

Sean 6,562 Posted November 29, 2024 She sounds OK but wonder what she looks like as she hasn't been pictured or been on video for most of this year at least. She has said today when her treatment stops working she will go to dignitas. Definitely not one to drop next year.

YoungWillz 21,468 Posted December 28, 2024 She's written an article in The Mail saying this wonder drug she's on could stave off the inevitable for months or even years. Unfortunately, the piece is pay to read. I only caught enough of it before it went to subscribe mode. So.

So I open it several times to catch the important parts before the paywall strikes, the wonder drug is Osimertinib (TAGRISSO). Seems to be able to do what she says: https://pharmaceutical-journal.com/article/news/osimertinib-treatment-for-advanced-non-small-cell-lung-cancer-increases-survival-rates-study-finds
Ulitzer95 13,057 Posted December 28, 2024 Not worth dropping IMO. Still late stages of cancer and she could die at any point now.

She's already mainly kept out of the spotlight in recent months aside from comments in the papers and the occasional radio interview, which doesn't point to someone having years left.

And drugs stop working at some point. Not your nailed on, but not your absolute drop either. Fact is, she's not giving us sight of her enough to judge.

The fact she isn't appearing in public at all despite being so passionate about assisted dying I think is probably very telling.
