Get me a chill pill mate, I'm burning up here....

As we all know, 90s chart regular and one of the few musicians to name themselves after a football manager who allegedly [deleted on legal reasons] Dario G is currently battling stage 4 rectal cancer. Mallorca Lee, of Ultrasonic and Public Domain, has "a matter of months" to live after being diagnosed with a terminal cancer of some sort. DJ Michael Bibi has given himself the "all clear" from CNS lymphoma, but probably worth keeping an eye on. And Matt James of Mashd N Kutcher has multiple myeloma, and doesn't sound too optimistic about his chances in interviews I've seen.

Enough for a thread I'd have thought.

Thanks for opening this thread, also keeping an eye on Gigi D'Agostino who had some health issues for the past few years...

I'd throw in William Orbit, who decided to take up drugs in his early 60s. Ended up having a breakdown. Now 67 and seemingly recovered, but he looks really haggard.

Interview in which he discusses some of his issues in depth: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/nov/19/madonna-drugs-and-helicopter-trained-dogs-the-dark-starry-life-of-william-orbit

Annie Nightingale, who turned on and tuned in later in life after drinking and smoking for aeons, must be about 100 by now.

But she also has a thread, so I won’t mention her here again. I promise.

Biggest death in this area was undoubtedly Avicii a few years back.

Jorn van Deynhoven is one that had serious health problems:

Also Hardwell suffered mental health problems similar to Avicii:

James said on Instagram that his cancer is 'terminal but manageable'.

The fuck, @Spade_Cooley?!?
Of all the people to do this…I guess leaves SirC as the only fucking DLer with a shred of integrity left.
To say this is superfluous doesn't do justice to the word superfluous.

They have different connotations in my opinion.

Disc jockey:

Club DJ:

The former is more likely to die of old age and the latter is more susceptible to overdoses and suicides.

Would house music producer Frankie Knuckles potentially warrant inclusion?

Could also have had Tony De Vit (aged 40, bronchial failure), Wildchild (aged 24, undiagnosed heart condition) and Kemistry (aged 35, hit in the head by a cat's eye knocked out of the road by a lorry driving in front of her), among many others.

True, although the one you have pictured, Armin van Buuren, is famously very level headed and not a party animal at all. He has built his huge State of Trance business and associated labels, while having a stable family life too.

I know, I tune into ASOT sometimes. John Peel was not the average disc jockey either. Those pictures are just for visual effect.

That Kemistry one is right up there with Steve Irwin and the bloke from ELO who got squashed by a runaway hay bale in the weirdly unlikely stakes.
