Vinegar Tits 607 Posted August 24, 2014 Extremely sad news. I've watched a LOT of old British films in the last couple of years and he was always brilliant and made a film worth watching. I also know two people who worked with him in the mid 90s - both said they were in awe of him and that he was lovely, helpful and an inspiration. RIP. Davey Jones' Locker 1,325 Posted August 24, 2014 Another fantastic miss for DL, bravo to whoever it was on the committee who said "let's drop him" in place of individuals like James Randi and Tony Bennett who are in fine health. Especially given that there were repeated reports of ill health and a major hospitalisation last year. How many more misses than hits are we on now? Yes, I just saw the news and came here thinking he was still on the list for this year.

I wouldn't mind watching Brighton Rock; that way I could see a young William Hartnell as well.
Rotten Ali 600 Posted August 24, 2014 Big one... Plus one less cast member of The Great Escape, hot on the heels of Jim Garner.

Pistol Knight 49 Posted August 24, 2014 Interesting, as a renowned film producer, "Dickie" managed to do his own death scene in one take.....and......cut...it's a wrap

I think that makes this a record breaking year.Never before has there been as many as 16 deathlist names gone before the end of august !

Windsor 2,235 Posted August 25, 2014 Speaking about the almost 70 years of marriage... Sheila Sim - or Lady Attenborough - will be 93 years old on her next birthday. She has been confirmed as suffering from dementia from the time of her 90th Birthday. Perhaps an easy pick for the 2015 DDP...if she lasts.

Galento 24 Posted August 25, 2014 One poor bastard in our pub's RIP list has missed out, because Lauren Bacall went first.this month annd won somebody £240. THe consolation is that we should be getting some damn good films over the next few weeks as a tribute to Dickie, with "I'm alright Jack" as one of my favourites. That's like going into a casino, putting it all on red, it comes out black and then saying "but I had red last time I was here". Doesn't count.
Phantom 2,550 Posted August 26, 2014 My favourite movie of Dickie Attenborough is 10 Rillington Place. I bought it on video years ago and had it transferred on to DVD when I moved to the U.S. I hadn't watched it in almost 10 years. I was at my father-in-law's 70th birthday party when someone announced that Dickie had passed away, he's been in so many great movie roles, but the only one the people at the party remembered him from was his role in Jurassic Park. Galento 24 Posted August 27, 2014 How could I have forgotten McCallum, who I watch regularly as Duckie in NCIS, but I had forgotten about Shooie McFee in Crossroads. Was he the one who went for some ingredients and was gone for 2 years
Bibliogryphon 9,645 Posted September 3, 2014 I did think it was rather sporting of Dickie to drop dead just before a bank holiday allowing editors to use all that pre-written copy to fill the pages on which are often awkward slow news days.
