Phantom 2,533 Posted August 29, 2006 The band, Blyth Power give their account of the court case that followed "A courtroom drama in which Gabriel, as a kind of biblical John Stalker, tries in vain to show that Cain is innocent of his brother's murder." My brother Gabriel the Angel stands among the cornfields looking round At the blue hills in the distance beyond the river valley and the town With a hunch about his shoulders that the footfall in the new-made furrow found And the broken bow-shards on the hillside Will show him where the killer went to ground Then replacing his receiver and returning to his solemn duty bound He told me anything you say may be taken down Then Cain took the stand took The Bible in his hand and turned the page He said I was hoeing out the turnip rows working just a couple of fields away When I heard his shout behind me I came running back to where my brother lay Face down among the poppies an arrow shaft between his shoulder blades That's how the watchmen came to find me there all in his life blood stained But as God will be my witness I am not afraid They called the Jackal and the Serpent Judas was a witness standing by But Gabriel the Angel wasn't called to testify Their defence was torn asunder With all objections cast aside Because with proof enough to hang him all the court was satisfied But Gabriel the Angel cleared his locker out and bade the farce goodbye He said the prosecution's case is all a pack of lies When Adam delved and Eve yet span who was then to blame? Who left the body in the cornfield lying broken by whose bloody fingers slain? And was it Gabriel the Angel with his chainsaw and loaded rifle aimed Saying Cain was Abel's only joy and Abel so was Cain's? lyrics reproduced without permission
Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted August 29, 2006 Hey, that death was ALREADY REPORTED! Not my fault if VSBfromH doesn't use the search facility for Abel's death
VSBfromH 74 Posted August 29, 2006 One link regarding Ms Capovilla's death described her as (having been) the "world's oldest living person", as if to distinguish her from the world's oldest dead person. Depending on your beliefs, that would be that Adam chappie, I presume. Does anyone have a link reporting his death? Cain killed Abel before Adam snuffed it. There's a few links online to that death. Here is one of them: Abel DEAD! That would make Abel the person who has been dead longer than anyone else. However, I contest that once Adam died, he would be classed as the "oldest dead person", i.e. the one who, if they were still alive, would be the oldest living person. Anyway, Abel's IMDB entry does not as yet have a date of death.
Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted August 29, 2006 Anyway, Abel's IMDB entry does not as yet have a date of death. Just typical of imdb. So keen to kill off people before their time, they miss a death from about 4,000 years ago!

Banshees Scream 110 Posted September 1, 2006 The title of this thread is like a ten second joke, after that it seems so pointless. From this picture I would say he looks like a man in his 70's, of course this angle lies.
Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted September 1, 2006 Hmmm.... sounds like a fake to me. Born in France. (How convienent, so no-one can find your birth certificate in the records) Grew up in an orphanage. (so no-one can check your real name) Was in the desert. Why would he be in the desert in the army in 1925?? (hmmmm) Doesn't have a proper first name. (again, so no one can double check) I reckon he's 80 and is a publicity whore. Dammit, I'm far too cynical. By the way, though, look at that guy in America who retired on his 100th birthday. looked well, people were happy etc etc. Dead within a month. As for the title thread, tell me about it. Bloody Gloria Stuart
maryportfuncity 10,641 Posted September 4, 2006 Even the article says: 'He's quite a character who's got a million stories.' Not to mention the 17 children he claims from only one wife. Get's the name of Pimlico Plumbers in there mind, just like that Irish engineering firm who perfected a perpetual motion machine last week and got their name splashed across the planet. Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted September 4, 2006 And I know they did things a bit differently back then, but if he married in 1920 that would have made him 14 (or 13) at the time. Add this story to the so much bullshit collection

Tempus Fugit 214 Posted September 28, 2006 World's oldest living baseball player discovered, aged 111. I hope the old chap gets a bit of acclaim now that he's been rediscovered. I wonder if he'd get a UK obituary, unfortunately I kind of doubt it, otherwise he'd be an excellent DDP pick.

Quite a looker! Russia and the countries that formed the Soviet Union have a long tradition of producing extremely old people. Note that civil registry wasn't introduced untill the Revolution. regards, Hein

Tomb raider 9 Posted October 17, 2006 Man, 105, seeks wife half his age I might try that too (once I turn 36). My girlfriend (25, no medical degree, but quite skilled with a pencil and remarkably pretty) was wondering: is the Chinese guy rich? And if he is: does anyone have his msn?
Guest anto Posted October 19, 2006 Hear, hear Banshees! Not sure that DLB has the concentration necessary to read and understand such a long post though, even though you obviously went to some trouble to formulate it in ways which should be familiar to him. Let's hope he gets the message. That smiley is starting to get a bit annoying, when it appears on a new thread. a canadien is 117. julie winnefred bertrand born september 16 1889
