Perhaps the miserable twat will crack a smile now.

That's no way to talk about Ivan Lendl...

He won, so everyone is saying he's British.

He is - however - the first Scotsman ever to win a major tennis tournament.

The most interesting Irishman tennis award would go to this Wimbeldon runner up from the early days... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vere_St._Leger_Goold , what a life he lived and died.

Favourite quote from someones signature on a forum (here maybe???)

"And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row."

I couldn't find the broadcast on any of the BBC channels so listened to the BBC Radio commentary and 'watched' the Guardian's game-by-game text commentary; almost as good as being there!

Nearly 5 bloody hours - and I don't even like tennis!

You should have streamed it.

Yea google 'wiziwig ' and follow the links . free sport and Your taking money out of Rupert Murdoch's backpocket so its win - win all the way.

In singles anyway

His bro won the Wimbledon mixed doubles a few years ago

Anonymous bloggers on a Chinese website have threatened Roger Federer ahead of next weeks Shanghai Masters Tournament which now will have security amped up.

Assassinating Roger Federer doesn't seem to be a very good threat. He always comes across quite well and difficult to dislike in contrast to some other tennis players I will not mention.

But they are hoping it is only an oral threat!

Plus he's Swiss, they generally don't do much to merit being assassinated

He's a tennis player, and a pretty high-profile one; if you're going to exterminate tennis, its as good a place to start as any.

He was asked recently what the best thing was about being Swiss. He said that the flag was a big plus....................

I think there are other sports I would rather exterminate than tennis. American Football - just don't get it!

It doesn't seem to be much different from Rugby, which I believe it's based on

Anne Jones is 74 today

Apparently she was 74 ten days ago. I will be complaining to my newspaper for making me look an idiot.

I saw this posted on a tennis message board and thought its relevant .

http://www.vancouver...2465/story.html

22 year old Rebecca Marino of Canada who was ranked as high 38 in 2011 announced she was retiring Wed then the next day a story breaks that she has severe depression and it was aggrivated by twitter commments and such.

A lot of people are speculating she might be suicidal or something so she might be a potential pick in the future for the more adventerous risk takers in Deathpools. It's a weird case cause most diehard tennis followers barely know who she was but the stress of "fame" was too much on her.
