Vinegar Tits 606 Posted October 7, 2006 Damn, I was hoping she'd last and be a unique pick for DDP next year. I think I mentioned somewhere my mum's dealings with an ex Corrie star who'd fallen on hard times. Twas her. I'm afraid she wouldn't have been a unique pick as she was on my short list for 2007 too. She'd have been a good pick a la Jack Wild (unable to cope with fame at young age, history of drink and drugs, constantly in the Sunday rags throughout the 70s and 80s) but alas t'was not to be. Tuber Mirum 125 Posted October 9, 2006 One more free place in our overcrowded prisons. "Every death in custody is a tragedy and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Laird." Tragedy: a lamentable, dreadful, or fatal event Isn't every death a tragedy, then?

VSBfromH 74 Posted October 11, 2006 Ed Benedict, an animator for Hanna Barbera who helped design Fred Flintstone and Yogi Bear. Dead aged 94. Not sure why it's taken so long, but just did a google and the world and his wife seem to be reporting this chap's death today. He's been yabba-dabba-dead around 6 weeks, as noted in the above post (well done TF)! And they call themselves "News" channels!

I liked this quote from The Sun, Ed Benedict passed away at the end of August but his longtime friend and co-animator David K Sheldon has only just revealed the news. What they really mean is that he has only just made a press release, being lazy arsed journo's they never saw the earlier and far more quiet announcement. Captain Oates 21 Posted October 18, 2006 Derek Bond, British actor who was a leading man in the late 1940's & early 50's has died. Perhaps most famous for Scott of the Antarctic, where he played Captain Oates. Pics younger and older. Might ring a bell - certainly was in a fair bit until recent years. He even has his own thread! I'm still certain that I saw him as a (temporary?) member of the 'Tonight' team and that I'm not confusing him with Derek Hart, whom I also remember well.
