Benn There, Done It?

Recommended Posts

Word on the street is he might have a terminal illness, maybe cancer.if so we could be taking months or even weeks at most. Sad news.He was a great guy

Yeah, but word on the threads hereabouts is we believe it when someone other than a guest is saying it and the claims come with workable urls.

I know nothing of his politics but I am rooting for him to have a Merry Christmas and happy new year.

wow he has aged alot since i last saw a interview of him and his voice too.

sad to say but he does look like a good pick for 2014 giving how fast he has deteriorated .

Is it just me or does he look like he has lost quite a bit of weight too?

Tony Benn gravely ill and fighting for his life in hospital http://www.derbyshir...-life-1-6433843 Looks like the end to me, sadly :(

It says "seriously ill" in the article it does however say that he's fighting for his life, but there's a big difference between being "seriously ill" and "gravely ill"

Not necessarily. Someone could be in a critical condition and fighting for their life, but that doesn't mean that they're gravely ill it just means their condition generally hasn't stabilised

Indeed, and such a statement could also mean pressing crisis - like fluid on the lungs causing acute respiratory distress - but other signs of health looking good. Benn is clearly on the downward slope but may be a bouncing bomb for us, like Ian Paisley, who keeps bouncing back but flies lower each time he does so.

Just as I was about to respond to MPFC by saying "No, I think he's a goner", I found this

This is good news. I am a big admirer of Tony Benn.

The only downside is that he is on my Deathrace Team so each day are potential points ebbing away.

he might have overcome the worst of this latest setback but you have to admit when you see how much he's deteriorated lately it's not looking good for him, sadly

Terrible news. RIP Tony Benn.

[And as I kept a respectful silence on the death of Maggie Thatcher, I've no time for any tit for tat mudslinging.]

One of the few politicians I had a lot of time for. I attended many of his one man shows in theatres where he proved to be a real human being, with a very good sense of humour.

An absolute star. Very sad. And a shocking omission from the main list.

Always had a grandad feel about him . I knew nothing about him before the iraq war, and that was the first time i got into politics and like many others opposed it . He gave some excellent speeches about us not going into war if only someone had listened to him.

No .

A few of us were surprised he was omitted this year probably just down to either forgetting about him , or the fact he wasn't a nailed on certainty to die this year.

RIP Tony Benn, an inspiring socialist and a fantastic left-wing speaker and campaigner.

R.I.P Tony Benn, Had the honour of meeting you just the once and was slightly amused to see you tapping your foot when Skunk Anansie took the stage at the May Day festival on Clapham Common about 20 years ago, although you were there more to see Billy Bragg.
