Tuber Mirum 125 Posted October 26, 2005 There are many different ways to say different things. For example, Some people call a sandwhich a wedge? Some call it a sub? Though overall it's a pleasure to eat. In the end it doesn't matter. I see. "That which we call a sandwich by any other name etc.." I suppose that's what Shakespeare really wanted to say, but "sandwich" didn't scan properly. Maybe that's why they started calling it a 'wedge?: Thou needeth not love nor knowledge When thou canst munch a tasty wedge I think I came across that in one of his lesser-known sonnets. Shakespeare would never have written "Thou needeth" It would be "Thou needest" or more likely "needst" "Needeth" is the third person singular. E.g.: "He needeth a goode kickinge"
Lady Grendel 139 Posted October 26, 2005 "Needeth" is the third person singular. E.g.: "He needeth a goode kickinge" Anyone in particular you are thinking about NP?

scsibear 4 Posted October 27, 2005 It seems fond memories are being made right now. There arearguments about the proper way to call certain bevrages. We in Bonny Scotland have a few names for our favourite tipple (drinks) eg beverage :- Bevvy, swally, sherbet non alcoholic drink : - juice, ginger tho the both can be put together for a full thirst experience. I.E. man I'm chokin I could dae wi a good swally, this could consist of huge amouts of Whisky (scotch) no not the scotchtape version. OR even a wee sherbet would do,..that can be juice or alcohol..but usually Whisky too. After (usually the next day) once again we would be chokin for a drink tho this time it's juice (see above comments) to quench ones thirst due to the dryness and general tongue stuck to roof of mouth affect from the alcohol. Usually Irn Bru pronounced..emmm Irn Bru well..after all they are BOTH wet...ya know..what more can I say !!! have a good one scsi
Cerberus 296 Posted October 27, 2005 I seem to miss a lot of the fun on Deathlist. I'm home during the morning and early afternoon when there isn't much happening (unless someone famous has died in the night) and then when I get home from work it's just the insomniacs like Lady Grendel (and the Americans of course). In between, I'm doing perhaps the worst job of any DL regular - humping heavy boxes around a freezing cold warehouse. I'm sure I wasn't cut out for that - I'm an educated, cultured individual (sniff) but there is a mortgage to be paid, and a family to support, so needs must. One of my favourite threads was when we were trying to establish whether Terminator and One Man Jury were the same person - funny, they disappeared around the same time. Yes there are Deatlisters that come and go but there are some that stay forevor. This is a bit of a sad memory. Deathlisters such as Terminator, One man Jury, and Rude Kid are now gone. We are even seeing much much less of Bruno Brimley and if anybody noticed Stayin Alive has not posted in some time. Although some return after long absences such as Weatherman90 and Mr.Stats but even if the old members don't return there will allways be new.
The Yeti 14 Posted October 27, 2005 but even if the old members don't return there will allways be new. And some aren't allowed to return of course. Those first Moderator wars ... battles unseen to mere mortal Members' eyes ...
Teddy 21 Posted October 27, 2005 A thoroughly embarrassing episode early in my DL career involved me posting a candidate suggestion only to be told by all and sundry that they had been dead for years. After a while the post slipped down the list, and using my mighty admin. powers I banished it forever. I have genuinely forgotten who this dead person was, if I remember I will let you know. DWB Does this help jog your memory
Lady Die 63 Posted October 27, 2005 My most memorable times were during my two 'hate threads'.I'm quite proud of them. I've only been here since July. But now that DWB is here, perhaps he could make a more memorable time by changing 'w' into 'W'. Congratulations - uppercase W at last!! My life has not been the same since joining Deathlist I couldn't wish for a better distraction from working!

Tomb raider 9 Posted October 27, 2005 Memorable or embarrassing? Think I have had more of the latter but one that incorporates both was my first post, spending months reading the DL I finally decided to join, spent that day worrying what to post and ended up rabbiting on about some dream I had had the night before (it was true though, honestly), an excruciatingly embarrassing moment for me. That would be this post?

football_fan 42 Posted October 27, 2005 A thoroughly embarrassing episode early in my DL career involved me posting a candidate suggestion only to be told by all and sundry that they had been dead for years. DWB - Many times ago BS - formally Advisor thought perhaps Morey Amsterdam could be a deathlist canidate. http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...morey+amsterdam Also i discovered an ancient ice hockey player who apparently was ancient but was dead for 46 years. http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...5&hl=ice+hockey Though with my luck there was conversation in this thread since he passed on his birthday.. Then there was the Nelson Rockefeller nomination for the 2005 deathlist, when he had been dead for almost 26 years.
