The difference is those are actually good songs. Glitter just has some bad glammy stuff

Harsh, and I'm with Harry's comment above about the unfair neglect suffered by his producer - Mike Leander - who'd organised the Glitter sound and had a real feel for glam, he just made the mistake of hiring the wrong jobbing singer, and there's no evidence he had a clue about Glitter's taste for underage tot. I've seen more live acts than I can usefully count and Glitter was right up there with other take-no-prisoners floor shakers in putting on a good show. The double drum kit/great slabs of guitar sound is primal in a small space at which point most of  his hits are call and response anthems, an inspiration on other nailed-on crowd pleasing live acts, like The Human League, who covered one of his hits, as did The Timelords (i.e. the KLF), Joan Jett, The Spice Girls and a few others.

So Gary Glitter, Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall walk into a bar in Dublin and the bartender says: "Fuck sake, not Yewtree again!"

He might also say “I’ll serve you lot but not each of your great-granddaughters ”.

Near as makes no odds, 50 years ago today - it all seemed such innocent fun at the time, right?

Don't know what is more stupid getting caught for this or asking PC world to look at your computer knowing there is 4000 child porn images on it.

I have been half expecting him to get caught in one of these paedophile stings online since he got let out.

What are the chances moment, watching the Netflix series on Jill Dando there's plenty on Barry George - convicted of her murder, subsequently cleared and released. One thing George definitely did was fantasize to the point of adopting the names of favourite pop stars. He also got a conviction for attempted rape, under the name of one of his favourite pop stars, Paul Gadd (i.e. the name on Glitter's birth certificate). Obvious bad taste jokes about George being a tribute act aside, that's just plain weird.
