PS. I wonder if I can claim the first "gosh" on deathlist. Doubt it somehow. If it were so, all I could say would be: golly!

Beaten almost 2.5 years ago. By Bruno Brimley no less.

Golly gosh! That's my 2000th post.

I'm hereby claiming the first Gee willikers although I have to admit that it does seem to recall Bruno Brimley..... Ok so I'll give him 30 days to come back here and prove it, and after that, it's mine. Congratulations, Godot!

Mr Brimley appears to be responsible for the origination of many words on this forum, some of which are even in English. Here's hoping he returns soon.

And to think I got a slating for saying 'blimey' quite a lot.

These last few exchanges have set me to thinking about retro slang and slang revivals.

I can recall when "beans" was very popular in school as a protest word. So you might say "beans man" in response to a shove in the back.

I recall also someone being told that he had a face "like a bag o'mallets." That was nice.

"Oya" was very popular as the pained reaction from being punched. Recalling old spoken slang is not easy because it's not part of the written record. I'm noticing already that "whatever" is disappearing as a classic teenage response to anything.

This thread bouncing back has got me thinking about the fact Windsor is 7 short of Tempus' total. A reclaimed podium place beckons, methinks, or summat.

No longer beckoning, for the Windsor man.

Look upon my works ye mighty; and wonder where it all went so badly wrong!

Aye, sad wankerdom did strike me as a poor return for my dedication. Even sent a message to ATJ of the moderators. I mean, as a rule they manage an epithet combining an implied insult with some irony or wit. It's hardly an incentive to see sad wankerdom looming before the rest of you, is it?

I thought maybe:

'Is it raining out?'

or

'Agrophobic, opinionated & in your face'

would be an improvement.

Either way, I celebrated 6000 posts in my customary fashion, with post 6001.

Sorry I didn't answer, but I thought it was sent to all the mods. I don't have the appropriate level of brotherhood to be able to fiddle with the mechanics of the universe like that. You'd have to speak to The Great Architects about that.

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate, not to mention slightly more fun, to celebrate with a wank?
