Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Depends doesn't it, I mean if he turned up for training with a gun in his bag and went postal on his team mates his fame would be assured.

Now I'm a bit worried, I was thinking almost the same thing... <_<

Lawrence Ferlinghetti - poet (born March 24th 1919)

Not sure of any health problems, but could be one to watch over the next year or so

Checked him out a while back and he looked fairly good for someone of his age. He's on my list of 100+, but very very low on it.

He appears on my list somewhere, not very highly as I couldn't find much on him. Then just listening to Baseball Canto reminded me to try and research him.

I've got Theodore Bikel scribbled down as I read a couple of years back that he had some health scare but can't seem to find any details on it

Jerry Stiller, actor and also father of Ben Stiller b. 1927

Suffers from depression

Not my dear dear dear sweet Jerry!

Many moons ago, I worked in a low level sales job and one of my supervisors looked amazingly similar to Jerry Stiller. I spent long restless nights thinking about how I could get one or the other of them to notice me and in the end I became a stalker for a few evenings. Eventually I was forced to leave town and my love interest Mr.Dickerson in the soot of the exhaust pipe fumes.

I most sincerely hope that both he (Dickerson) and Mr. Stiller continue living for many more years. It seems like a mere 30 some years ago that I saw Stiller in The Taking of The Pelham123...a truly enjoyable film.

Depressed? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Blue Nun sales fell and so we no longer have Stiller and Meara doing commercials for them.

Meara:"Hi honey how was your day"

Stiller:"Great now what's for dinner?"

Meara:"I made a delicious roast with those little potatoes and lotus blossoms that you like"

Stiller:"Fantastic and I brought home a little Blue Nun"

Meara:"Blue nun? No wonder she's blue, it's freezing out there. Bring her in."

Stiller:"No, no. Blue Nun is a wine. A delicious white wine..."

"Blue Nun. It's a delicious white wine that goes as well with fish as it does with steak." and it was one of the more affordable wines too as I recall...

I seriously doubt Robin Williams' liver is in the kind of shape George Best's was in. He was treated for alcohol and cocaine dependency years ago. Like Mel Gibson he's lived clean for years and had the odd relapse. He got help this time to save his marriage, he's 55, there's no suggestion his life is on the line yet.

The owner of Dundee United FC, Eddie Thompson has cancer.

He's been fighting prostate cancer for 3 years and now it's spread to the bones. He's continuing to work, despite medical advice.

lol, brian... have you found that leather prada wallet you were lookin for?

I believe Brian lost his Prada wallet after it was forcibily inserted up his rectum, still at least that's one excuse for not buying your round. I don't think he lol much, though it did bring a tear to his eye.

Perhaps you could do her (and us) a favor and escort her there yourself...she really shouldn't make this journey all alone.

Bit sad about Sandy, I'll confess to owning a few Runaways albums on the old vinyl.

See a Runaways tribute band called the Stay at Homes (heh heh) got stuck into a benefit gig for Sandy's growing medical expenses last week.

The Mayor of Pittsburgh has cancer of the brain :birthday:

His chemo has failed to remove the tumours from his brain and now he's got to undergo radiotherapy.

I'm just thought I'd mention it for the benefit of The Guardian obits editor, who I am sure will read this.

Mr/s Guardian Obits Editor, please will you make sure he gets a mention when he snuffs it next year, as he's going on my DDP.

Thanks. :(

I just want to suggest Rev. Pat Robertson just for the sheer sake of it and the fact that he's totally off his trolley.

He's had a couple of health scares. But chances are someone will beat the crap out of him because of the comments he makes.

Sir Bernard Lovell will be 93 in a fortnight, something that might get a smattering of press coverage. No specific details I can find on his health, obviously still alive, not exactly keeping a high public profile unless other DL'ers are spotting him out and about.

Bummer man.

O'connor seemed like such a wonderful hopeful person after the Tom Murphy years and now less than a year after knocking Tommy out of office, Bob looks like he ain't gonna make it. Here he is at a happier time...

Jean Delannoy still breathes, thought he was long gone. Anyone know whether he's likely to hit the ton?

Ancient he seems. There are a few ancient holywood suggestions for next years list, but since being out of the spotlight for 60 or 70 years you wonder if there fame qualifies..

In terms of qualification I don't think there's an issue with Delannoy, they'll use words like 'Pioneer' in his broadsheet obits and talk about the development of cinematography in the middle years of the last century.

Ray Bradbury - another writer living a good long life - is 86 today. You can put some of his longevity down to caution, he saw a serious car accident as a boy and - he claims as a result - he's never learned to drive. Didn't fly till he was in his sixties either. S'funny though, people use all kinds of exciting and dangerous transport in his books.
