maryportfuncity 10,682 Posted September 1, 2006 Mebbe I was a bit hasty, papers and other media today reporting he needs physio for limited movement down one side. Guess he's played his last charity game.
bebow 0 Posted September 13, 2006 Sir Bobby Robson - former England football manager. I see he was in your 1989 list, but after recent surgery and now aged 73 I think he should be included in 2007.

Lady Die 63 Posted October 13, 2006 He should be reinstated as England manager. Better than that idiot McLaren. He was crap at Middlesbrough so why did the FA think he'd do any better for England?
themaninblack 2,112 Posted October 13, 2006 Coz he's English, that's why and therefore a comfortable target for hacks rather than the slippery swede...
DevonDeathTrip 2,365 Posted October 17, 2006 Bobby 'Hard As Nails' Robson, goes back to work. It will take more than lung cancer or a brain tumour to knock him off his perch.

TLC 9 Posted October 18, 2006 It will take more than lung cancer or a brain tumour to knock him off his perch. Only if those words had any long term value? I see a question mark, but what's the question? I guess the fact he's survived lung cancer and a brain tumour is of considerable value to Mr Robson, long term or not. Or have I yet again failed to understand what you mean Mr Scream? For the 2,966th time at the time of this post.

DevonDeathTrip 2,365 Posted April 9, 2007 Bobby Robson gave an inspirational pre match speech to Gretna this afternoon, Gretna lost 0-2. Here's a photo of him taken this very day: The man standing to his right, is none other than Brookes Mileson, who I believe has his own thread somewhere on this forum. maryportfuncity 10,682 Posted April 9, 2007 Indeed Mileson's 'Dying the dream' thread has been a lively little number off and on. Robson's 'inspirational' speech was much discussed in the Cumberland Building Society stand at Carlisle today as we cantered to a 3-1 thrashing of Bournemouth. Should've been 3-0, ball clearly out of play in the build up to their goal. I'm away doon the harbour for chips!

maryportfuncity 10,682 Posted April 12, 2007 Have you ever been to, or better still entered the World Gurning Contest ? Erm....no and no, I'm afraid. Whilst yer trawling Cumbrian delights might I recommend the world liars championship held hereabouts. Most entrants are local, some of them noted local historians, a fact that seldom troubles the judges or crowd. The Lakeland Sheep and Wool Centre with its live sheep show, just outside Cockermouth, is also a stunner. They got millions in lottery money, spend about a million and a half doing up an old farm and then blew the rest testing thousands of sheep until they could find one capable of ending the show by riding a unicycle! Class. On second thoughts, maybe I made the last bit up, it's really a standard BMX style bike.
Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted April 12, 2007 How did that get through the profanity filter? Do Cockermouthians suffer from The Scunthorpe Problem? ...live sheep show, just outside Cockermouth, is also a stunner.

Octopus of Odstock 2,215 Posted May 6, 2007 He's fighting cancer once more.... Heading for Relegation? Hmmm.....18 months, tops! I do wonder how many cancer fights he can put up with. The fact they can't operate makes me fear the worst here. Ironic, as yesterday, he was at the football (Newcastle-Blackburn) & looked very well, I thought. I hope, again, he survives, but I'm not sure if his body can take much more of this.
