JR Hartley 0 Posted April 7, 2009 Tesco. Enough said! Although I would have said ASDA! Or WalMart, although it is the same thing. Shop of the Devil. Banshees Scream 110 Posted April 7, 2009 Shop of the Devil. It's as if the minds of people are sold on the prices themselves rather than the object of interest. Prices can be very deceiving things and in life everything has got a price.
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,702 Posted April 7, 2009 Tesco. It's hard to think of a more life-sapping, soul-destroying activity than shopping in a supermarket. Fighting your way past Alzheimers-ridden pensioners buying 45 tins of cat food, desperately trying to control that f**ked-wheel trolley you swore you'd avoid this time around, while buying exactly the same old crap you bought last week just to keep you alive in the pointless, futile struggle of existence, as Wham's Last Christmas plays gently yet psychotically in the background. In August. I've had more 'why the f**k am I here' dark-times-of-the-soul moments in supermarkets than in the rest of my life put together, hellacious 8am comedowns and all. Frankly, I'm amazed there aren't more murders/suicides at the checkouts. It's almost enough to make one use a less jokey font.
Lady Grendel 139 Posted April 7, 2009 Tesco. I don't have a supermarket in my town, according to The Herald we are 'one of the last towns in Scotland not to have one', we do have a Scunnerfield Somerfield, which has to be the dregs when it comes to that type of shopping, plus they charge twice what Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury's etc would charge (£1 for a kilo of onions when 2 kilos are 66p in Asda) as the nearest oppoistion is 18 miles away . I refuse to buy anything there except cigarettes, fortunately we have a decent butcher, fishmonger and baker. Sainsbury's bought up a lot of land in Kelso in the last couple of years with the backing of the Town council to build a new supermaket, but Tesco came in late last year and paid the Regional council a backhander and lo and behold Supermarket Wars have started, they've even started up protest groups against Tesco, it amazes me as a Glaswegian, we marched against Poll Tax, Nuclear weapons and the Iraq War and it takes the argument of which supermarket should be built to raise these people out of apathy . Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted April 9, 2009 The relentless uselessness that is the London Underground. Proudly providing a service more brittle than an infant's skull. "Due to an ant crossing the tracks at West Ruislip, the Central Line will be closed for the next four hours. Please use the hopelessly inadequate rail replacement service." Or, "Because of a passenger with a mild cough at Canon's Park, there will be no Jubilee Line trains running today." And what, exactly, is a signal failure? Who makes the signals, and has there been any product in the history of mankind, including the space shuttle, that fails more often? Then there's the "information" they give you when something goes wrong. "There are severe delays on the _________________ (fill in any tube line). Passengers are advised to switch to the ________________ line and change at ________________." Everyone shuffles off the platform, and three seconds later the supposedly delayed train's doors close and off it whizzes, 3/4 empty, to the next station. A troop of shrieking gibbons would be more helpful because at least they wouldn't deceive us all into believing anything they uttered. Mankind (supposedly) got a man on the moon 40 years ago this year, but can they get a tube train to go from A to B in the appointed time? Can they f**k. Windsor 2,235 Posted April 10, 2009 My place of work - a care home - was bought over by another company last week. I was informed yesterday that the resident's fees will increase by over one third. This means that their fees will be increased to over £700 per week. At the same time, the new owners have had the cheek to cut services. They have, for example, told my boss that they are no loner to get a three course meal for lunch. He is restricted to £22 per person per week for food. Personally, I think it is disgusting and I have let them know it accusing the new owners of gross profiteering. I'll probably be getting the sack anyway, so there is no point in keeping quiet. It is rumoured that the entire kitchen department - bar the cook and his one assistant - will be fired. Instead the carers - who spend most of their day wiping arses and cleaning up shite - will be drafted into the kitchen to do all the dishes.

I'm glad my grandparents have all passed away. Although it won't be too long before my parents have to go into a home. My two grandmothers were in the same home for nearly 10 years, turned out that the owner was older than half the residents. Surely they have to meet some standards to the care of the old people, I guess if the relatives of the residents have any sense they can look into a new place. Surely they have to meet some standards to the care of the old people, I guess if the relatives of the residents have any sense they can look into a new place. Not that easy. I can't speak for where Windor lives, but certainly in my area there are many more people wanting nursing/residential placements than are available, and the nature of the beast is such that you can't always plan on where and when to move homes, because vacancies invariably come up very suddenly i.e. when somebody dies. And also sometimes it's in the better interests of the resident to keep them where they are, rather than subject them to a move to a new home which can sometimes be upsetting and traumatic for them. I used to work in children's social services, again where foster and care home placements are limited - in one case the local authority were paying a specialist residential home £3600 PER WEEK for one child, such was the nature of their care needs. Utter f*****g madness if you ask me. May I ask Windsor, what do you do at the home? Carers have my utmost respect, it is not a job that I could do. I have no patience, and gag at my own children's bodily functions, let alone anyone else's.

One of my grans was suffering from Alzheimer's, so when it came to looking for a new home for her, she was oblivious of what was going on anyway. My other gran didn't care, as long as she had a room with a window she was happy. I have no idea in which area Windsor lives but I guess because both my grans were in London it was easier to find them a replacement home

I have no patience, and gag at my own children's bodily functions, let alone anyone else's. I have worked in the kitchen department for 6 years. It used to be an after school job, but when I went to Uni I was kept on for weekend's. I do alot of cover during the holidays though. I generally just wash dishes, but I often cover as the cook's assistant, which includes food preparation, and a minimal degree of cooking. Most of our residents have to take what they are given with regards homes. They have very little choice - especially those who depend on the council to contribute towards fees. VSBfromH 74 Posted April 11, 2009 Eamonn Holmes I agree with Tom Baker who said "Eamonn Holmes with his terrible 'I'm eating sh*t' grin and that acid blonde: bottle blonde, black bush - Fi-ona, I think he calls her. Believe it or not, I give quite alot of my time to other people. You think that you are helping them, but you generally find that you are being used. Not that I am suggesting that I am in any way half-decent.

Lard Bazaar 3,800 Posted April 18, 2009 School reunions. If I'd wanted to keep in touch with a bunch of fuckwits who deemed fit not to bother speaking to me after we left school simply because I chose to get off my ass and get a job straight away rather than sponging off mummy and daddy so I could f**k about at university for three years, I would have. I didn't, so I haven't. And look who's laughing now suckers - I'm still young enough to enjoy my life with my kids who are grown, and you're all wallowing in dirty nappies and puke-stained blouses and can never go out because nobody wants to babysit your little Satans. I'm still going though, simply for the beer, and to laugh at people. It's tonight, cue more drunken ramblings later on
