Being that the British Royal Family are also the Royal Family of Canada, do they qualify for the extra point?

Both Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama have honourary Canadian citizenship, does that count?

I admire the sheer randomness of the project. However, the BBC is not necessarily the best source of obituaries for the UK. Perhaps if broadhseets with an online presence could be included, say The Times, maybe we'd get better coverage of people who have not made their names on reality television?

The idea of a themed team is a masterstroke. I shall try and dig out my thinking cap.

May I ask why there is a "Hall of Kings" but not a "Hall of Queens"?

Is it because only blokes play Deadpool? Or perhaps only men die?

Inquiring minds want to know (I want to know!)*. :P

*does anyone other than myself understand this reference? :D

Alright, in the order they were received:

Madame Defarge: I'm not sure, but I'd guess that it's when you actually get a hit. My first pool (entered May 22, 2004) and my first hit (Ronald Reagan, June 5, 2004) were so close I never really thought about it.

Cowboy Ronnie: You'd have to be more specific. But I'd say that aside from Margret, most of the Trudeaus would likely fall into "famous for being famous" though for some reason I'm thinking they have a son in politics...

TLC: I guess since I wrote "worked as a bodyguard in some capacity" I should be punished for such sloppy phrasing, so yes, I suppose this year fictional bodyguards will have to count. Though that'll be the first thing that changes for 2007. :D

Windsor: Yes. The contest was designed with that consideration in mind. The Royal Family counts.

TF: Yes, honourary Canadian citizenship counts.

ie: The Hall of Kings is going to be a list of people (myself included) who assist me with the site. Since those all happen to be male at the moment, they're all Kings. It'll also be the place I put the cpdp200X (at) gmail.com contact information.

Thus, no Queens. :P

Oh, I also forgot: don't forget to submit a team name! I'm going to make a note of this on the site, but I thought I'd mention it here too.

Also, Team Descriptions and Pictures are welcome too. Though I won't be actually asking for them until the contest begins, you're welcome to send them along with your entries.

Who is in your Hall of Kings?

No one on DL aside from myself, although I'll most likely give OoO a shoutout for a bit of help he gave me earlier on. He's not on the +5 bonus point council though.

Also, someone brought something up that I feel I should clarify (and will do so in the official rules too - I just hate making changes without announcing them first). If you submit an ordinary team that's too similar to someone's protected theme team, I most likely won't allow it. For example, if you have the theme team "Russians" and then submit five rappers and five porn stars for your ordinary team, I'll probably ask you to resubmit the ordinary team.

To further encourage interesting picks, the obituary requirements are relaxed for theme teams. All that is required is an English-language obituary, online or otherwise

You might like to tighten that up a tad, as the current wording would allow any obituary, even one on someone's personal website or Wikipedia.

Does "To further encourage interesting picks, the obituary requirements are relaxed for theme teams. All that is required is an English-language obituary from a recognized news source, online or otherwise" work? Wikipedia doesn't count as a news source and Wikinews never reports anything that isn't in many other papers anyways.

Bravo CP! It's a good-looking site! It all looks very promising and it's good to have another DP starting in the middle of the year.

I'll try to get a team ready before your deadline; it's a busy time of year for me, what with having to sort out all my new pupils and their parents! Isn't education wonderful? :D

Is the CPDP open to everyone? And is there a limit to the number of teams (each of two lists) that each individual may submit? There is potential for mass vandalism on Wiki just before the end of the contest in order to sabotage opponents' entries :P but I'm sure the Hall of Kings will be alert to that!

(BTW, is "catagory" Canadian English or just a typo? I also spotted an extra "i" and an extra "m" in the text.)

I'd rule out local newspapers, but it's up to you.

CPDP is open to everyone except Paris Hilton.

I am allowing only two lists (one of each kind) per email address. I'll leave it at that, aware of its openness.

Category is a typo, of which there are likely many since I write my code in Notepad instead of Word.

I'm not worried too much about Wiki vandalism. Aside from Ross Davidson, I think I could find three friends who know all the candidates thusfar. Even with Ross Davidson, my parents watch EastEnders, so that's two right there.

TF: I'll think carefully about that wording, mainly because I'm worried about the obit chances of some of my rappers/porn stars if I use the word "national" :P

If anyone thinks of a really good bonus or penalty to help aid the "style" aspect of the game, let me know before the 22nd and I may include it.

You could have a Bacon Number bonus,

say 1 point for a Bacon number of 3

2 points for a Bacon number of 2

and 3 points for a Bacon number of 1

and 20 points if you pick Kevin Bacon and he dies.

Ross Davidson has a Bacon number of 2, hard to believe I know.

I'm in.

Trouble is, I've picked this team when pissed at the pub watching the mighty Reading FC win. I may regret this tomorrow.

TF, how on earth does Ross Davidson achieve a Bacon number 2??

A Bacon number calculator, that does all the hard work for you.

Automatic Bacon number calculator.

Type in his name and see the evidence for yourself.

I'm in too. Trust you have my two teams CP. Can't think that I'll be any where near the top of the leader board at the end since just for the hell of it this time I've picked a lot of people I've never heard of! Plus I've never been to Canada. The nearest I've come is to visit the Canada area of EPCOT, still I liked the 360 degree film show so much I feel that a ski holiday may be on the cards sometime in the next twenty years!

I'd go sooner rather than later Ali, given some of the global warming predictions it might be a walking holiday by 2026.

I have finally sent off my lists... I'm in the game! ( That's 'in' . )

I'm pretty hopeless at picking lists for deadpools. I'm in three others and haven't yet had a success. Lucky them eh? Here's hoping I'll have better luck this time and my picks will be dropping like flies left, right and centre. :o:D

My team is also in. I'm not too sure I'll have much success due to the fact that candidates can't be too old, and can't have cancer. This basically leaves semi-elderly fatties and Ronnie Biggs :o .

I had enough problems just thinking of a Canadian to put in my team. So I ended up putting Leonard Cohen on my list. My only other option would have been Anne Murray, but she's in pretty good shape. :D

I'm in. I chose Karla Homolka as my Canadian.

Do snuff videos count as porn?

I'll get my coat.
