I see Tarby trending on twitter and find its only because breakfast TV have wheeled him out for his opinion the French riot police tear-gassing Liverpool fans. Looks OK.

There’s a documentary on ch 5 tonight (UK) at 8.50 pm about him. Hopefully we’ll see what he looks like now. Don’t imagine he’ll look much different from the photo above.

Although to be fair if you listen to Liza Tarbuck in Radio 2 she frequently makes reference to her Dad by mocking him. So I’d say all it pretty good at the moment

Conrad, btw - turned 87 last Monday, looks like he'll see the other four in that photo out.

He was a passable goalie in celebrity football teams well into middle age. I saw him play in a celebrity team before Carlisle played at Wembley for the first time and he was nearly 60 then.

I wasn't aware that Jimmy Tarbuck doesn't identify as a male any more.

Or are we supposed to call everybody "they" now?

The person who provided this statement referred only to “The Defendant” without confirming who it was. That’s why it’s still a neutral pronoun.

It was the prosecutor who was quoted. Presumably the court knew who was being prosecuted.

Yes, but they don’t identify them in statements to the press, regardless of whether or not it’s widely known.

Barristers and Solicitors  often use statements such as the Defendant and they when talking.
