For us Scots, the problem is endemic, seemingly.

Has there been a drop in the sales figures for Mars bars and lard North of the border in the same period?

Al Balding, first Canadian to win a PGA event.

Screw it if you think he's not famous enough, I'm showing some Canadian pride here.

Dick or Iain, whatever your name is.. if Philip D'arcy Hart was

a medical researcher or some sort
he can hardly be construed as being a near miss.

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally have never heard of him.

Iain,

If you've never heard of her and she hasn't been discussed before then she's not a near miss.

Both are unique hits on the DDP though, including one that will shoot our very own John's A Legendary Donut up closer to the top of the scoreboard.

iain already posted it, though admittedly I respect your skepticism :)

For some reason, I looked at these earlier posts and failed to fully absorb their content; perhaps I just don't believe iain exists any more!

Apologies to Phantom, though. Let's hope this is the first sign of a reformed iain.

The controversial Dame Elisabeth is also a unique pick on Hartlepool.

I wish I could share your disbelief Captain. Sadly he's like a fart in an elevator - just keeps lingering around.

Elizabeth Schwarzkopf (aka Betty Blackhead) was actually quite well known, and famously, when on 'Desert Island Discs' chose only her own recordings, the self-important old Nazi.

edit. I actually knew that before I read the link. Honest!

Is a family notice enough? The trouble is, it's not a very stable online link, but a cast-iron obit in print.

Either way, I think there will probably be an obit in the Times at some stage in the next week.

Philip D'Arcy Hart certainly should get a broadsheet obitituary,

but just in case I've taken a screen capture of the paid for announcement.

The DDP rules just state that the obituary must be in a UK national newspaper, so it should count.

Ah, well done that man!

The reason I asked was Miura's death was briefly mentioned in the breaking news of the Times online paper, but never evolved into an obituary, and I was worried with a lack of a stable link, the same for P D'AH. But, as you say, this should all be moot some time next week, I expect.

England's oldest living player is Septimus (Sep) Smith , who was 94 in March.

Not any more he isn't. Sep Smith RIP.

Phil Taylor, who's on my DDP list, is now the oldest, for anyone interested in an alternative possibilty to the mainstream suggestions.
