He was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1996 and last month he announced it has returned. Statistically speaking you are more likely to die of cancer the second time around... I don't have a TV but I happened to be in front of a set last December 31st and saw a New Year interview with the Archbish in which he talked about his cancer having returned, albeit in a non-aggressive manner - hence my inclusion of him in one of my lists for this year. If that is a recent picture of him in the article quoted above, he has certainly lost some weight since the beginning of the year. An article in this weeks Spectator magazine describes Archibishop Tutu as "gravely ill", without elaborating further. I think he's going to kick Peter O'Toole out of 20th place on my DDP team. Sez the top: "Patriarch's heart getting weaker" reports about the latest news from the VMA where His Holiness Patriarch Pavle is being treated for the past several weeks. But then sez the bottom: Another report reminds it's been 17 years since Patriarch Pavle took over as the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), and says, "Patriarch's health 'discretely improved'", quoting doctors. Karl Frenzel is another valuable gamble and while I'm at it so is former senator Jesse Helms (Who are a little out of topic in this thread) and not all on my list ... Since I can't read the article (registration required), is it just taking its info from the Tehran Times or is it an independent report? If it's the latter, probably best to leave him off DL 08. Now I'm f****n not in providence knowing Christodoulos is all of a sudden failing a month before it matters. This means I have to locate a compatible replacement 'again' and ... I was just looking forward to having Christodoulos ... look that way because from my view it's just one of those names that were meant to have a line drawn through it. I might be wrong but isn't that usually contracted through various needles in use for heroin or tattoos? I thought pope valued figures were not allowed to interact with women?
