He won the North American Boxing Organization, World Boxing Council of the Americas titles Continental, and North American Boxing Federation junior lightweight titles. He had 30 wins (22 knockouts), 7 (6 knockouts) losses and 2 draws In 2016, Alicea was diagnosed with leukemia. The cancer initially receded but returned in 2019.
