1948 Turkish olympian Mustapha Batman who was listed as alive by Olympedia, actually died in 2004.

Which makes Uner Teoman the last Turkish survivor* from the 1948 Games. She is 91 years old.

* There’s a Turkish olympian, A. Tarık Eğrilmez, who doesn’t have a death date, nor a birth date for that matter.

But he competed in art, and art competitors were much older than the athletes, so he’s most likely dead.

Turkish sprinter Üner Teoman (Wikidead at 91

Oh aye, and speaking of Lynn the Leap, as we were - the guy who stopped him defending his title - Bob Beamon - is 78 but he's just recorded a hip-hop jazz album: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/interactive/2024/bob-beamon-olympic-long-jump-record-jazz-drums/

Geoff Capes should probably go in here too, as he was definitely a summer Olympian if never a medallist. For those too young, he was also the third most famous Brit of the 1970s, after Brian ‘squat thrusts and parallel bars dips’ Jacks and Dickie O’Sullivan, obviously.

Aye, a multi-faceted national treasure, or summat

Mirror has it about right IMHO - for those too young to realise it, btw, Capes was so old his athletic career started in the amateur days when everyone needed a proper job too. He was a copper, apparently very good when it came to calming down suspects during an arrest.
