British swimmer Brian Barnes, who competed at the 1952 Games in the 200 metre breaststroke, has died aged 90.

 

He was British Champion in 200 yards butterfly in 1953.

Joseph Reynders was born in Antwerp and died aged 94, he was a former Belgian swimmer. He competed in the men's 1500 meter freestyle at the 1948 Summer Olympics and in the water polo tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics.

Ukrainian weightlifter Oleksandr Pielieshenko becomes the first Olympian to die in the Russia-Ukraine war. He finished fourth in the 85kg weight in Rio 2016 and was also twice European champion.

Tito Steiner died at the age of 72, he was a Paraguayan-Argentine decathlete who represented Argentina in the 1970s and 1980s. He is the current Argentine record holder in the event (8,291 points, established on June 23, 1983), he won the medal of silver at the 1979 Pan American Games in San Juan. He finished fourth at the 1975 Pan American Games and 22nd at the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics

Robert Zawada died at the age of 79, he was a Polish handball player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics (they placed 10th). The first Polish handball player to exceed one hundred international matches.

Milagros Cámere died at the age of 51, she played with the Peru women's national volleyball team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, finishing eleventh in both events.
Cámere also represented Peru at the 1994 FIVB World Championships in Brazil and the 1998 FIVB World Championships in Japan, she won bronze at the '91 Pan Ams and several medals at South Americans between '91 and '99.

Igor Sysoyev was born in Leningrad and died at the age of 43 in a traffic collision in the Temryuksky district, At the Athens Olympic Games he placed 15th, and at the Beijing Olympic Games he placed 9th. He was a triathlete
