msc 18,477 Posted July 19, 2013 Pretty sure Paul Bearer talked about the death of Paul Bearer earlier this year He did. And given Spade died nearly 50 years ago, I hope any octopi which happen to live in Odstock have their wills in order at the going rate.

Well yes, it would have been odd if he hadn't talked about it (despite being deceased, obv) - but was he first with the news?

maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted July 19, 2013 So - all told - perhaps best to pick a posting name that's immune from fate's fickleties? For the fun to die in Maryport, it would have had to arrive in the first place!

Spade_Cooley 9,530 Posted July 19, 2013 So - all told - perhaps best to pick a posting name that's immune from fate's fickleties. For the fun to die in Maryport, it would have had to arrive in the first place! Well surely the smartest option is to pick a celebrity who is 18-years-old and guaranteed of an obituary (let's say, oooh, Belgian snooker prodigy Luca Brecel), make them your DDP captain, sign up here with that as your username and then bob's your uncle, 30 points. Spade_Cooley 9,530 Posted July 19, 2013 Actually, while we're on the topic, you can add: Damon Killian: adopted this username in April 2011, Richard Dawson (who played Damon Killian in "The Running Man") died in June 2012. I'm sure terrible Canadian rapper must be shitting himself looking at current posters here.

msc 18,477 Posted July 19, 2013 The Man in Black can be either Johnny Cash (d. 2003) or Valentine Dyall (d. 1985). Yep, as the lyrics state: "Well, you wonder why I always dress in black, Why you never see bright colors on my back, And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone It's because I'm the Black Guardian, Turlough, you bastard!" Dr. Zorders 1,271 Posted July 19, 2013 Very sad news. It's hard to imagine anyone being this sad about most of today's footballers dying, in 50-60 years' time.... I wonder if this could still happen today, or would today's on-field medics immediately be able to detect a broken neck (or suspected break) no matter how "unobvious" it might be to a lay person? Red Flag 84 Posted July 19, 2013 In other news, there's talk that Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova, who has been suffering from parotid gland cancer on and off for the last couple of years, will announce his resignation later today, possibly due to another relapse
Spade_Cooley 9,530 Posted July 19, 2013 Resignation confirmed all over the place. He has had a relapse and he made the decision to step down this morning. For someone to leave Barca this close to the start of the season... he must be a goner.
Red Flag 84 Posted July 19, 2013 I dunno. For one the Spanish season doesn't start for another month. And given that this is his 2nd relapse, maybe he's just said "I don't want this interfere again". Barca's form was pretty iffy when he was off sick last season (well, for Barca anyway). I'm no expert but I always got the impression that parotid gland cancer wasn't a particularly serious form - unless of course this latest tumour has popped up somewhere else That said, he'll be on my 2014 list at this rate
