maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted December 20, 2009 He'll be a bit of a non-event pooling wise. If he's breathing at the end of the year EVERYONE will have him, if he goes before most of us will have him and the relative positions in the different deadpools will stay - more or less - the same. I'm hoping he goes on January 1st and gets the deathrace off to an explosive 364 point start all round.

Not much else to than to do than watch this develop over the next 2 weeks. I'll kick off with the obvious Dec 25th. I'll dedicate a cracker to him.... by chucking it straight on the compost heap. Windsor 2,233 Posted December 20, 2009 He is my current joker for 2009, and my proposed joker for 2010. I'd prefer it if he died this year. I need the points.

I vow to never have a list with a joker who sees the year through. After reading that Megrahi is now finally "living up to expectations" I'm kind of keeping my fingers crossed that he breaths until 2010. We will see what happens. Too late for that for me, thanks to Harold Pinter, but I did tell myself no more picking terminally ill people who would benefit from getting out of jail as my joker... worried about Susan Atkins for too long... still, she did die, so perhaps I can renege... It is looking more likely that he won't last long, however, as he'd probably be better served by laying low and out of media attention now rather than pretending to worsen... Come on Santa... give us a nice present May I refer you to page 3 of this thread post number 45. Getting this close to the end and adding more guesses now would not be fair on those who guessed 4 months ago. But if anyone would like to have a second go, should Megrahi live beyond noon on the 6th of January next year, that would I think be in order. However we must consider Vaagy to still be the moral winner on this and these spoils will be for "2nd" place. I thank you. Guess away for this if you must. Cut and paste of current situation: 14th Nov = themaninblack 21st Dec = heaven can wait - "your honour till noon on the 27th Dec'." 1st Jan = maryportfuncity 11th Jan = Vaagheid (Vaagy wins if Al-Megrahi lives beyond noon on the 6th January 2010)
lastorders 15 Posted December 23, 2009 that's a good point. I couldn't be arsed to go back that far so apologies for that. Tomb raider 9 Posted January 3, 2010 Poor Megrahi... Living in the country under the leader that once betrayed you seems to be not good for one's health Huh? Did I miss anything? Al Megrahi got cancer while being imprisoned in Scotland, and was released when on the brink of death. Now that he has returned to his own country, he already outlived the three-months-expectation by two months. How that leads to the conclusion that being in Libya damages your health is unclear to me. Now that he has returned to his own country, he already outlived the three-months-expectation by two months. How that leads to the conclusion that being in Libya damages your health is unclear to me. As a "bomber" he was acting under orders of Lybian authorities, who later for political reasons chose to arrest and extradite him for trial. So he was betrayed by regime he served. May be, now he is happy to be out of prison, but surely have a very mixed feelings to the country that he had to return. It's looking like he was sold out and now bought back by Gaddafi. Tomb raider 9 Posted January 6, 2010 It's not new that the evidence against Al-megrahi had been criticised, of course, but things are getting more and more serious, so it seems... And even more important: the article states that his health is still deteriorating.
Rotten Ali 600 Posted January 7, 2010 We have a winner - Vaagheid - you were the player who played the longest game - Al-Megradi may live on for some time but the mid point has been crossed between your guess and Maryport's so I declare you the outright winner of this sweepstake. Anyone want to start the sweepstake? I'll take a punt on 27th September (270th day of this year - prophetically one day for each death) List to date of estimated death dates: 27th Sep = Rotten Ali 10th Oct = Windsor 20th Oct = Handrejka 31st Oct = The Miser 4th Nov = Ulitzer95 5th Nov = Gunjaman5000 10th Nov = One Shot Paddy 11th Nov = time 13th Nov = The Unknown Man 14th Nov = themaninblack 21st Dec = heaven can wait - "your honour till noon on the 27th Dec'." 1st Jan = maryportfuncity 11th Jan = Vaagheid (Vaagy wins if Al-Megrahi lives beyond noon on the 6th January 2010)

DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted February 20, 2010 An update on his health. Nothing too conclusive really, but it does show that sometimes even cancer specialists aren't very good at telling how long their patients are going to live. Prof Sikora said that he suspected that Megrahi was still alive because he had received a "psychological" boost from returning to his homeland and being reunited with his family...Some prostate cancer patients have lived for years longer that their doctors predicted. Prof Sikora said it was just possible that Megrahi would be alive in several years time but added: "It's highly unlikely. There is a 90 per cent chance he will die in the next few weeks. Darkman 4 Posted February 22, 2010 This thing should have died in prison. All the deaths in The Deathlists since inception don't add up to the number of innocent lives taken by this excuse for a human being and yet he sits in the Libyan sun & will die a free man.
