Yet another one of the original internet wrestling writers has died: Rick Scaia, founder of OnlineOnslaught/WrestleLine.

Used to see his wrestling columns and think they were the usual edgy smark stuff at the time. Over twenty years ago now.

Then about a decade later he randomly joined a bunch of the wrestling forums and was surprisingly down to earth.

49 is no age, but he's not the first wrestling critic to die round that age. Recent shows have really missed that instant Csonka seal of approval imo.

Dean "DEAN~" Rasmussen of DVDVR died earlier this year as well. In fairness he never looked like he was going to make it to a ripe old age.

Adrian Street, British wrestling glam rock star, dead and straight to QO: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-66361848

Unique DDP hit @gcreptile.

Not a surprise as he looked like death warmed up at the Clash last September. Still, sad news, one of the few proper old school World of Sport era legends still standing.

He was a good(?) actor

Actually yeah Ray Traylor was a fun performer. Very fourth wall breaking, behind some hilariously bad taste sketches and in his day was pretty good at the prowrestling. Outside of performing he was a renowned charity fundraiser, raising millions of dollars for sick kids in the nineties before Make a Wish made that cool for celebs. Alas he could never keep his weight under control and died aged 41 while many actual cunts live lives twice as long.

And to answer your other page one question 19 years on, prowrestlers aren't in Equity or any likewise union and they really ought to be. You are right, it is theatre but it's highly skilled theatre and even a second out can cause severe injury. And too often in this thread you'll find folk who died from painkiller addiction because they couldn't afford proper health care under the American health system.

I've been tempted to answer that unanswered question on page one for years. Couldn't resist when it came up on search yet again. But yeah Bossman was great. Still fucked off he died. Worryingly I'm not far off 41 myself now, all a bit sobering!

Now it's to the point where the reason Bray Wyatt is out is starting to become alarming. If WWE is nervous & taking precautions with his health. He must be really ill. We might need to add him to the lists because i have a very bad feeling we are gonna hear he's passed away from whatever illness he's having.

For a man who suffered a near fatal stroke in 2010, Ricky Steamboat showed up on AEW this week looking amazing for a 70 year old retired wrestler. Still moving about well too. Barring accidents or unexpected illnesses, not one of ours anytime soon.

Sean Sapp, who is a legit source for wrestling news, says that Bray Wyatt has in fact being life threateningly ill this year but is now apparently recovering.

New edition of that December list of oldest professional wrestlers/wrestling personalities as there's been a few deaths since I sent it.

Abe Jacobs (1928) Looked frail last year. But he's also absolutely ancient for a professional wrestler.
