RadGuy 1,614 Posted July 3, 2015 JULY 3RD Â 1969 - Brain Jones of The Rolling Stones was found dead at the age of 27. 1971 - Exactly two years later, Jim Morrison of The Doors was found dead, also aged 27. 2001 - Mordecai Richler, the author who created the character Jacob Two-Two (I loved watching the show as a kid), died aged 70 from cancer. 2012 - Andy Griffith, legendary American actor, who starred in a legendary show, died aged 86. time 8,591 Posted July 3, 2015 As its Wimbledon fortnight  21 years ago, champion of 1956 and 57, Lew Hoad died aged 59, of leukemia  One year later, Pancho Gonzales died aged 67  Gonzales was world number 1 for eight consecutive years during the 50's, and though he never won Wimbledon, is remembered for his triumph in the longest Wimbledon match ever, beating Charlie Pasarell 22-24, 1-6, 16-14, 6-3, 11-9 in 1969 ( a record subsequently broken by the Mahur/Isner match of 2010). 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Â The first being Eva Gabor of the famous Gabor clan, known for her role as Lisa Douglas on "Green Acres", the New York loving wife of country boy Oliver, who ended up fitting in better than her husband, after they moved from the Big Apple to Hooterville. She was 76 years old and suffered from pneumonia. Â The second being Bob Ross, the creator and host of "The Joy of Painting", and art show on PBS, where he taught kids how to draw bushes and sticks.
