mijkediablo 79 Posted July 6, 2015 William Faulkner, back in 1962. I am more convinced and determined than ever that this is not for me. I will protest to the last: no photographs, no recorded documents. It is my ambition to be, as a private individual, abolished and voided from history, leaving it markless, no refuse save the printed books; I wish I had enough sense to see ahead thirty years ago, and like some of the Elizabethans, not signed them. It is my aim, and every effort bent, that the sum and history of my life, which in the same sentence is my obit and epitaph too, shall be them both: He made the books and he died. RadGuy 1,614 Posted July 8, 2015 JULY 8 Two first ladies died on this date: 1957 - Grace Coolidge (1923-1929), aged 78 from heart failure. She was known for avoiding politics, not saying anything about her views on women's rights, for example. Instead of withdrawing from the public spotlight after a personal tragedy, she still did her duties after her son's death. 2011 - Betty Ford (1974-1977), aged 93, making her the 4th longest living first lady ever. Her husband Gerald was the longest livimg persident ever. She was outspoken about women's rights, supporting abortion even though she was a Republican, and drug and alcohol abuse. She was a Deathlist hit. Other than that, we have two deaths on this date in 1994: - Dick Sargent, the second man to play husband Darren on the sitcom Bewitched (1964-1972). A few years before his death, he came out as a homosexual. He died of cancer aged 64. Fun Fact: Both he, Dick York (the first Darren), and Elizabeth Montgomery (the witch), died in the 1990s in their 60s. - Kim il-Sung, the first dictator of North Korea, died aged 82 on this date. He served from the end of the Korean War until his own death. He was a Deathlist hit.
