The legend that is Francis Bacon passed away at the age of 82, on this day 26 years ago. Not the Francis Bacon, off of philosophy hundreds of years ago, I'm of course talking about the renown abstract artist.

John 'Jack' Adams died 50 years ago (73).  For many many decades he was the 'winningest' (had to say it) coach of my Detroit Red Wings, and remains the only person to have won the Stanley Cup as a player, coach, and general manager.
