Looking at the non linked drivers, there aren't any names that immediately stand out as being around. Haven't checked the linked names but Hans Herrmann is still around if he was there.

It seems Hans Herrmann didn't participate in 1955 because of injuries he sustained earlier in a practice crash in Monaco, so Da Silva Ramos is the only one left assuming all other drivers are dead. Some real interesting backstories to some of the names though. Mortimer Morris-Goodall is apparently Jane Goodall's father, Goodall's co-driver Leslie Brooke was awarded the George Medal in World War II, French driver Pierre Louis-Dreyfus became a centenarian, Riseley-Prichard was in a child pornography scandal, Dr. Mario Damonte was apparently a chemist. Then there's others who saw fame in the automotive industry (test driver Norman Dewis for example).

A racing colleague of mine rang Griffith Airport today.

Not only is Mr Goldsmith still alive, but he's at the airport working, as he apparently is every day.

Paul Goldsmith has now died. He died earlier today. Full link to follow but the poster on Facebook is linked to the airport and can be vouched for from a motorsport background.

Alan Rees also died yesterday. A very fine racer and former Grand Prix driver, he was the last living founder of March and also worked at Shadow and was a founder at Arrows. The AR in March and Arrows was due to his initials.

I'd only learned this last week that he was very poorly. Up to a few years ago (2020/2021) he was still okay.

Granted he only competed in a trio of F1 grands prix but the attrition rate of drivers at the time was appaling, he did well to see 86

In other news, Jacques Laffite made a rare public appearance earlier this October attending a classic car event in France along with fellow racing drivers Henri Pescarolo and Jean Ragnotti. Laffite has Parkinson's but it still seems to be in the early stages, so the scavenger hunt teams who picked him probably aren't going to get a result here.

All three drivers attended another Classic Days event this July along with Jacky Ickx and a few other ex-Le Mans drivers. Ragnotti (far left) is much thinner compared to what I can recall of his previous appearance, same with Laffite (far right) who in addition appears hunched now.

Ragnotti and Laffite have committed to the Nogaro Classic Festival in October (and they will attend, historic events like these are the lifeblood for these old Le Mans drivers and it would take a serious illness to prevent them from going) but crucially Pescarolo hasn't even though he's been to this exact event before.

Jacky Ickx looks great for his vintage, given the time he was racing too.

I've been keeping this to myself for a while but it's now becoming clear Rupert Keegan's chances of reaching 2025 are pretty slim.

He's very ill with cancer, but he has also never lived a very healthy lifestyle.

Certainly worth considering for the Deathlist Cup, and if he makes the 1st January, he's going right in at the top of the DDP picks.

I can confirm this is true. Give it 24 hours for a QO.

So the one positive looking at Keegan's death is that it reminded me Tony Trimmer, who won the British Formula 1 championship the year before Keegan, is still alive

Good old Rupert Keegan.  A man who was quoted as saying, when his Hesketh F1 car was promoted by scantily-clad Penthouse-supplied models "What was I supposed to do?  Object?"

Word coming through the book of Face that Augie Pabst, the legendary US sportscar driver has died at the age of 90. Nothing to confirm yet, but two people who have posted it are pretty solid sources normally.

At 37, so in Nigel Mansell territory regarding his age as a winning "rookie," then.

Someone on X met NASCAR driver Bobby Allison in February 2024 and took a photo with him, in a wheelchair but otherwise seems to be alright. I might note that Allison is another racer who suffers from the long term effects of a severe racing crash.

There was a recent photo of him after NASCAR finally awarded him a retrospective win. He was shrunken from his former self and sitting in a large chair and I thought to myself "hmmm, if you can't stand for this event, you're not a well man". And so it has proved.

Probably nothing much, but Tim Schenken (a stalwart of Australian motorsports with successful careers both as a driver and as a motorsport official) will be stepping down from his role as clerk of the course for the Australian Grand Prix. He's 81 now and a few years ago he also stepped down from his role as race director for the Supercars series.

Also I want to throw in a wildcard here in Matt Tifft. He retired from NASCAR a couple years ago due to an epilepsy diagnosis and recurring seizures. He's only recently returned to racing but get this, a few months ago he was kicked in the head by a rival pit crew member in an altercation. This kind of luck is probably not something one would want to carry (of course now that I've said that he'll be just fine until the age of 90, but anyway.)
