Slave to the Grave 26 Posted January 1, 2010 I haven't had confirmation for my dragged together at the last minute team either, carefully assembled whilst cooking dinner and playing Raving Rabbids with the children.
themaninblack 2,112 Posted January 1, 2010 I haven't had confirmation for my dragged together at the last minute team either, carefully assembled whilst cooking dinner and playing Raving Rabbids with the children. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted January 1, 2010 Here's my team of A list celebs . I'm hoping for a couple of unique picks this year. Hakimullah Mehsud (Joker) Abdelbaset Al-megrahi Brian Lenihan John Calley Penny Marshall Ronnie James Dio Laurent Fignon Queen Fabiola Kate McGarrigle Paul Vincenzi Joe Stone Ferlin Husky George Kimball Donald Neilson Dr William Stanton Chris Sanigar Raymond Hewlett Steve New Chris Woodhead Richie Hayward
football_fan 42 Posted January 1, 2010 Hakimullah Mehsud (Joker) Pakistan's Taliban leader. That is a risky pick, but would be a huge payoff if he gets killed.
Garn2 34 Posted January 1, 2010 My half-hearted, first ever DDP entry... 1. Abdelbaset Al Megrahi (Joker) 2. Ronnie Biggs 3. Ronnie James Dio 4. Laurent Fignon 5. Annette Funicello 6. marinade 18 Posted January 1, 2010 Hello MiB - how many Cardinal Dalys did you get, then? He must have been a couple of hours from making it to 2010. You should have got one from me, at any rate (People I Think Might Die in 2010 United). Step up, sub Vera Lynn... Good luck running t'ing.
ImissMontpellier 73 Posted January 1, 2010 I'll add Bernard Madoff
Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 1, 2010 Just submitted my team with about an hour to go. Left out some riskier picks like Ethan Zohn (seems to be cancer-free), Jenn Lyon, Moe Benoit, Jim Stynes, Paul Quarrington, Nick Charles, John Shelton Wilder (low chance of obit), Laurent Fignon and Jose Alencar (cancers stable or in remission), which has unfortunately left me with a lot of old people... guess I wasn't feeling much into risk taking. I even put my joker on Rubinstein. Happy New Year everyone! Dead now. I doubt anyone took a chance on him, as he's unlikely to even make national news. Anyhow, here's my 2010 DDP Team: 1) Abdelbaset Al Megrahi 2) Vasily Aleksanyan 3) Milivoj Asner 4) Ronnie Biggs 5) Gabriel Garcia Marquez 6) Rev Billy Graham 7) Ernie Harwell 8) Stephen Hawking 9) Steven Hill 10) Dolores Hope 11) Dennis Hopper 12) Jack Kyle 13) Simon MacCorkindale 14) Edwin Morgan 15) Hiroo Onoda 16) Zelda Rubinstein (JOKER) 17) Ron Santo 18) William Tenn 19) Otto von Habsburg 20) Sir Norman Wisdom A conservative list, nothing too risky. I'm hoping that William Tenn (link for those wondering why I'd choose an obscure 90 year old) will get an obit on account of him being born British, but I reckon that it's a bit of a silly chance to take given that his age won't yield many points. I think it was more about improving my chances of getting a unique pick in there who actually has a fair chance of dying...
IKYWN 6 Posted January 1, 2010 Here's mine. A few favourites and Helen Baxendale added just because she is young and celebrities have a habit of dying when they're not meant to. Christian Bale is the Joker for much the same reason. If you see either of them crossing the road, don't brake. Team name: Death Stalks United Team members: 1) Abdelbaset Al Megrahi 2) Christian Bale (JOKER) 3) Trevor Bannister 4) Helen Baxendale 5) Pope Benedict XVI 6) Chuck Berry 7) Ronnie Biggs 8) Fidel Castro 9) Ronnie James Dio 10) Clive Dunn 11) Stephen Hawking 12) Steve Jobs 13) Sir Elton John 14) Mikhail Kalashnikov 15) B. Still, I always believed in quantity, rather than quality!

Tomb raider 9 Posted January 1, 2010 She's got a better chance of scoring Moosey points than Frank Deasy has of getting you any. If already dead people would score points on the DDP, it would make the contest even more interesting...

Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted January 2, 2010 Interesting, Handy, I wondered if someone would pick Gilbert Taylor - always on my radar, but never quiet close enough to make the top 20. Sorry for the delay in naming my team - I had no idea who I put in! Having found it the team was: Dr. Willie Stanton JOKER Dennis Hopper Simon MacCorkindale Dora Bryan Donald Nielson Yitzhak Shamir (he'll be on there for ever....) Ernie Harwell Basil D'Olivieria Abdelbaset al Megrahi Edwin Morgan Laurent Fignon Sir Norman Wisdom Victor Mears Ronnie James Dio Brian Flowers Raymond Hewlett Sid Caesar Savvas Andrea David Wynne Luis Echverria Less unique picks than before I think, but I might have sneaked in three I hope. For obvious reasons, a much stronger team than the last few years - or at least I hope it is...
