Harvester Of Souls 40 Posted March 23, 2010 When did Kaite Price become an advisor to the Conservative Party? They're trying to tap in to the Pop Idle vote. Who better than Jordan to act as an advisor?
Windsor 2,233 Posted March 23, 2010 Does anybody else find it interesting that Patricia Hewitt and Geoff Hoon have found themselves embroiled in this latest scandal only 3 months after their last attempt to sink the government? Anybody would think that this lastest stunt was staged - especially going by Byers claims...

Josco 49 Posted March 25, 2010 The budget yesterday did little to help the economy, the downward spiral continues..... A quote from this mornings DT. When Gordon Brown arrived at the Treasury he inherited a deficit of £6 billion; it is now £167 billion. The UK was the seventh most competitive economy in the world; it is now 13th. It was the fourth most competitively taxed; it is now the 84th. It was the fourth most lightly regulated; it is now the 86th.

I mean, what I've highlighted can be very subjectively conveyed. What does 'most competitively taxed' actually mean? I'm surprised they didn't top it off with the old chestnut: "This country's becoming ungovernable..." ...before having a swift malt and then have a snooze. Harvester Of Souls 40 Posted March 25, 2010 Can any of the DL posters, who dwell in the Motherland, actually claim an improvement in their overall financial well being? I'm interested to see if anyone's wallet is heavier.

Mind you, the years leading up were pretty shitty, I'll give you that!

Lard Bazaar 3,799 Posted March 25, 2010 Well I don't drink cider, I don't smoke and I couldn't afford a £250 grand house, so the budget makes no odds to me - as it is, I've never been better off in my life than I am now.
Harvester Of Souls 40 Posted March 25, 2010 Yeah, mine is. Through good fortune (but not entirely undeserved). Not everyone loses in recession time.... Mind you, the years leading up were pretty shitty, I'll give you that! Agreed but getting skimmed by the treasury seems to hit everyone, and at the moment it feels a little more so. Since when? Since ever? With the recession, the yearly budget, do you have more money in your wallet? Less? Or the same? Well I don't drink cider, I don't smoke and I couldn't afford a £250 grand house, so the budget makes no odds to me - as it is, I've never been better off in my life than I am now. Well done sir! One of Tony & Gordon's success stories! EDIT: Just wondering how living expenses are and how much money is left over. Not asking for figures, or anything, just wondering how the system is treating it's fair subjects.

I don't know enough about politics to say much about whether it's down to Tony and Gord, but genuinely, I am doing OK. I work full time, and as a single parent get child and working tax credits, council tax discount and maintenance off my sperm donors when they see fit - I bring in about 2 grand a month after tax, and for where I live, that's not bad. I can afford to pay my mortgage, and save a bit each month, and go out on the piss and replenish my wardrobe when I like - I'm quite happy with how things are. Mostly. maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted April 6, 2010 So the election is ON! How many of us will cop on here for our voting behaviour on 6 May? I'll cop for a dilemma, I have a mate standing as a Loony and live in a solid Conservative seat. I wouldn't vote Conservative and the chance of anyone unseating them is very remote, not voting isn't an option for me, so I'm seriously considering a vote for my Loony mate on the basis he's alright and it would count as a 'protest' in the face of the expenses scandal etc. Still mulling it over mind, but if the Tories come round canvassing the dogs will be unleashed with elastic bands round their bollocks to get them good and mad before they go. Windsor 2,233 Posted April 6, 2010 I live in an SNP strong seat. I'm pretty confident that the SNP will win the constituency, but there are two factors which may change that. 1. Alex Salmond is standing down, and is being replaced by a snobby bitch. 2. The Conservatives have chosen Jimmy Buchan - of BBC's Trawlerman fame - to contest the seat. Being a fisherman and a local celebrity, he may win over a good few voters. If it seems likely that the Tories have a chance to take the seat, I will be voting for the SNP. If it seems likley that the SNP will win, I will vote for the party of my choice...whichever party that is...
themaninblack 2,112 Posted April 6, 2010 I live in a safe Conservative seat, so voting for anyone else will be pissing into the wind. Phantom 2,533 Posted April 6, 2010 I have a feeling that the Tories will get in as many that previously voted Labour have switched to Lib Dem rather than Conservative. In many areas Labour still have some safe seats, but the Lib Dems will split the vote and allow the Conservatives back in.

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted April 6, 2010 When will these idiots realise that only Maggie can lead us forward? An 84 year old with Alzhiemer's will lead us out of recession? There is, of course, little reason to expect that an 84 year old with Alzheimer's will do worse than the incumbent idiots politicians. After all, their memories are about as long. That said, I can imagine that there are 84 year olds with Alzheimer's to be found who are less dangerous than Baroness Thatcher. regards, Hein

Rotten Ali 600 Posted April 8, 2010 It would be much better if the real "winner" of the election were the party who polled the most votes across the country in the election. That way every vote counted no matter if in what area it were cast. OK so what if the Lib-Dems only got 200 seats - if they got at least 1 more vote across the country than either both Labour and Tories on say 220 seats each the Lib-Dems get to rule and what their policies propose. We have a mad system and this one change would make it a little bit fairer.
