Fled the Nazis for Northern Rhodesia in 1939, then became the European controller for the BBC. Fascinating life – would make a great obit once the broadsheets pick up on his demise. Thatcher 2,789 Posted January 1 On 24/01/2023 at 14:24, Perhaps said: American sports journalist Steve DiMeglio, who writes for USA Today mainly about golf, has stage 4 cancer. Most likely not QO worthy but still worth a consideration for pools with lower obit requirements. Steve DiMeglio has died aged 63. A DDP pick, but the article says either Tuesday or Wednesday for day of death.

Sir Creep 7,095 Posted January 2 2 hours ago, Thatcher said: Steve DiMeglio has died aged 63. A DDP pick, but the article says either Tuesday or Wednesday for day of death. Everyone seems to say 'today' meaning...today, 1 Jan. I checked this dude's FB friends list and anyone named Dimeglio (there were like 10 people). None of them have updated their pages in weeks other than one Christmas post by one of them. SMH. SC

His brother announced through his Twitter page that he passed away on Wednesday, so a 2025 death. EDIT Now that I think of it I should've posted this in the DDP25 thread, sorry!
DCI Frank Burnside 3,950 Posted January 7 Eamon Dunphy (Wiki) sometimes controversial Irish Journalist and former footballer Stepping Away from his podcast for the forseeable future (had previously taken a break for a period last year too). Turns 80 this year. One to watch perhaps. Known for having a fodness for the drink And at one stage illicit subtances. Reasonable chance he obits in NI Section on BBC and possibly the likes of the Guardian.

time 8,765 Posted January 13 "The Sage of Sussex" Adam Trimingham has died aged 82. He spent the bulk of his career at The (Brighton) Argus back when local news mattered and was a thriving (and useful, and respected) business. He joined the Argus in 1970 after cutting his teeth in London and then on the Brighton & Hove Herald (local weeklies, not Fleet Street) and finally retired from writing his column a couple of years ago.
