Malawi’s WHAT?
The next important thing coming straight outta Malawi will be the first important thing.  Pray tell, who is the SECOND most important Malawi musician?

Interesting question. Could be Lucius Banda, reggae & Afropop singer-songwriter with 9 studio albums to date? Or it might be Malia, whose albums garnered fair recognition across Europe. Or the late Tony Bird if we’re including dead people, who was an anti-colonialist icon with a musical style comparable to Bob Dylan.

Oh shit none of them reached Michigan so they’re all nobodies dw.

EDIT: And Eero Saari, whose passing has been mentioned on this forum earlier this year.

After the death of Ali Haydar, here's three old henchmen of Assad still going:

1)Ali Duba (1933): chief of military intelligence who was seen voting in a wheelchair last year. Clearly suffering from extreme physical frailty and possibly dementia.

2)Ali Aslan (1932): chief of the military staff who was awarded the Order of Merit last year. Seems to be fine.

3)Rifaat al-Assad (1937): vice president and uncle of Bashar, suffered a gastric hemorrhage some time ago. Wanted for every kind of fraud in France, so came back to Syria last year.

Ali Duba dead at 89. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Going through pages of Finnish people born 1912-1929 on the English wikipedia. Defintely still living people in bold

*snip*

Tania Weber (1926-) Actress who appeared in many Italian films in the 1950s.
*snip*

I wonder how many of these fifties sportspeople are dead already. Suprised so many have Wikipedia pages.

So now that @Gisooo has uncovered a film historian's post about Weber, we now know that she was German-born Italian, not Finnish, which makes more sense as I don't think Finnish-born personalities tend to die off radar?

Anyway, born in 1933, not 1926, and died in 2009 (aged 76) so another off your list.

Jiřina Bohdalová hospitalised last month and has been in hospital for more than two weeks now with flu, spinal problems and other stuff. Now slowly improving.

Czech actress Jiřina Bohdalová also survived a major pulmonary embolism around January that put her into critical conditions for weeks and later a fall in April. Seems like she's recovered well.

Already reported on here in several places at the time.

Also, he's not a "foreign" personality.

Well, she and Elvis had one thing in common…

A celebrated Korean singer was found dead in a rest room at a concert venue minutes before she was supposed to go on stage. Lee Sang-Eun, 46, was set to perform “Carmina Burana” at Grand Hall of Gimcheon Culture and Art Center when she was discovered. No cause of death was given. A graduate of the Mannes School Of Music in New York, she won female musician of the year at the Korean Music Awards in 2004 and 2006.

Searched the professional Shogi players born 1940 and before on the Japanese wiki, found a few more:

Masao Kitamura (1934-, ja wiki) Was already a professional in 1953 and has the earliest "Shogi number" from all living players: 60, earlier than Katō (64), Miyasaka (65), Ōmura (71), Naitō (77) and Saeki (79).

Masao Kitamura dead at 88.
