Carl Fischer, former photographer for Esquire magazine who was behind one of their more controversial covers (Muhammad Ali as a martyr) has died, aged 98.

Got a NY Times obit, but because that's behind a paywall, here's an alternate obit - from Esquire themselves - https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/a43582669/carl-fischer-obituary/

I went through his entire collection here to get this info. There may be one or two more living subjects, but some are just too obscure to track down a fate for.

When I get time, I'll also look at the earlier portraits of Allan Warren, which consist of mainly British subjects – royalty, aristocracy, actors and writers etc.

Updated for the death of Belafonte.

He was the most notable surviving sitter for Van Vechten. That accolade now belongs to Leontyne Price.

Local news report* on the death of Hutson, bizarrely illustrated with a picture of David Bowie taken by the late Roger Bamber.

I say report, its largely a summary of tweets/insta/FB posts by those that knew him.
