Phantom 2,550 Posted February 19, 2016 Darn, I really liked her books. Her talent will live on. Pissed I missed out on her, though... might have her in Shaun's but not on DDP nor shadow list. Even worse for the Deathlist because they actually had her last year, I never had her. I never had her either, and proud to say that. I'm not in to octogenarians (yet)

Scraggy Taters 290 Posted February 19, 2016 I always used her name for Cockney rhyming slang when I was announcing that I was off for a piss. 'Just goin' for a Harper Lee' Looks like I'll be using Leslie 'trout-pout' Ashs' name instead now....

Drewsky1211 4,816 Posted October 15, 2017 Apparently To Kill A Mockingbird is stirring up some controversy just because it has "the N word" in it. Yet another case of book censorship.

Yet another case of book censorship. This isn't something that is happening for the first time and something that won't be ending soon either. Plenty of books are dealing with censorship including this one. Why did you have to post this?

msc 18,536 Posted October 15, 2017 Can see why some folk in Mississippi might feel challenged by a book exposing racism, tbh.
Gooseberry Crumble 5,361 Posted February 28, 2018 https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/feb/28/harper-lee-tonja-carter-will-unsealed A news update on Harper Lee's will as it is unsealed after much speculation about whether or not her lawyer is benefitting from her estate. Sir Creep 7,071 Posted July 8, 2018 The asst prosecutor in the Willie Maxwell case(s), retired DA (Edgar) Paul Jones, recently wrote a book about the case(s) as well, not too shamefully entitled “To Kill A Preacher: “A Tale of Voodoo, Death and Insurance.” ANYWAY.... he's 74, and in April was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer and just finished a round of chemo. "The initial prognosis indicated treatment options did not look good, but recent signs of improvements have him feeling optimistic". Possible QO (25% chance let's say), the new book can't hurt those chances. Maybe shoulda kept this one under my hat. Maybe I'm fucking someone over. I actually get more pleasure with the latter, so let's post it! SC
