War in Afghanistan goes on Dutch troops remain in war in Afghanistan, contrary to what most Dutch politicians say now Several nasty natural disasters Several thousands die in terrorist attacks in Iraq and Pakistan Civil liberties and respect of privacy of EU citizens will further decline The European Parliament will remain a Mickey-Mouse-parliament Brazil will win the World Cup Kicked out by the Dutch O'Bama (he is Irish, isn't he?) will not be murdered The Dutch will win 4 gold, 3 silver a 3 bronze medals in the Winter Olympics (4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze, actually) I knew I took a risk with the medal prediction. Two out of three isn't bad, though. Footie's always a gamble. The Dutch government did try to lure the States-General into an extension of the war, but parliament stood firm for once, and our boys are home, leaving 25 dead behind. It's never been clear to me what they were doing there, apart from getting their arses shot off. Wine and whisky consumed here, wee dog shit scared of fireworks on the telly and senile old dad not even knowing it's New Year, internet sporadic but good conversations with friends.
