Maybe it was his goal to survive his 70s? 10 years (even when the cancer isn't supposed to be as aggressive as some) with cancer can't have been great to live with but the treatments he had certainly kept him going and the interviews he gave right near the end showed he wasn't suffering as much as some people do. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That is what made him interesting.He was a contrarian in some respects.Always politically centrist but not dogmatically so and could always say something the other side would find contentious.He was never partisan or dogmatically and radically centrist as so many of the bores that write today's columns are.
