Now someone on Tiwtter observed that the Guardian magazine no longer features the line "Clive James is away". So he's probably not going to return... I think if he dies this year, he's going to turn into a decisive hit this year, as Still Life, Shaun of the Dead, and The Living End has him on their team, and I think any of those three has potential to win the whole thing. My gut feeling, however, is that it'll become another Megrahi situation, where he was taken off the list, but the following year, gets put back on the year and becomes a hit when he returns...

msc 18,438 Posted July 29, 2017 He's been gone for a while. My thoughts: either he's on the road out before Christmas, or The Guardian have sacked him for being in a recent book about climate change denial, or he quit because apparently he's fed up with leftist media. All of which sounds like the chemo is adling his brain, tbh.

Aye, because he got sacked from...I forget who, for it. Telegraph? Never rule out the schizo-mood swings of the Guardian editorial staff, though.
Death Impends 7,963 Posted July 29, 2017 I'm taking the "timer's on" stance here, for someone who enjoys the spotlight as much as Clive ending his column def seems ominous. Assuming it was a voluntary move, of course.

Sean 6,314 Posted July 29, 2017 Yeah I mean Clive would most likely go into great detail about his situation if he could.

msc 18,438 Posted August 12, 2017 The Mail quoted him on bloody Diana last week: Quote Broadcaster and writer Clive James, who became a close friend and regular lunch companion of the princess, observed, ‘She chose the men with whom she got involved very well because they have all been extraordinarily discreet – with one exception.’ Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4733472/Charles-knew-Diana-s-affair-didn-t-care.html#ixzz4pYjBsd3R Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
Toast 16,132 Posted August 12, 2017 Is there any indication that he said it recently though? I mean, this is all old stuff, isn't it.
The Dead Cow 620 Posted August 18, 2017 For those of you still pondering the reasons for the end of Clive's Guardian columns, a comment on the Instagram upload of one of those hospital photos which I mentioned previously in this thread reveals that 'he was finding writing to deadlines difficult'. Its about his cancer and treatment at Addenbrookes, he lives in Cambridge. He looks bad, sounds bad, certainly not the person you would remember seeing. I think, unfortunately, a certainty for 2017. See? I told you he was in a bad way NINE MONTHS AGO.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted September 25, 2017 It's to the point Clive James is clickbait. I won't be opening this thread in the near future. So this would be a great place to besmirch my good name lol SirC
