charon 4,943 Posted June 2, 2014 Wilko 'Goes Back Home'! We're sure you will be as delighted as we are that after making excellent progress at Addenbrooke's over the last few weeks, Wilko is now convalescing back at his home. Naturally after such an extensive procedure, Wilko is extremely tired, and it will take him some time to recuperate, so he asks that you respect his privacy, but we had to share this incredibly positive news. On behalf of Wilko and his family, another huge thank you for your magnificent support over recent months - it really means a great deal to Wilko - and please join us in thanking the staff at Addenbrooke's for everything they have achieved in some extremely difficult circumstances. From his Facebook yesterday.
Dr. Zorders 1,271 Posted June 5, 2014 There was always something about Wilko's face. He looks like a boogeyman. Maybe that should have been a sign that he would be a boogeyman for DL.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted June 6, 2014 The Sun reported on a nine hour operation with potentially very positive results. This is the same one everyone else reported on a few days back, right? So, The Sun has gone all Huff Post/last with the big stories, for once?

Vinegar Tits 606 Posted June 25, 2014 Fair Pulled out of T in the Park for cancer treatment. Fair enough. Recuperating from such a major operation is going to take time and he isn't going to be fit enough for the middle of July.

Guest Chas C Posted July 13, 2014 As a former band guitarist myself I'm impressed with the Daltry/Wilko album and amazed that I never latched onto Dr Feelgood at the time. I've listened to a lot of Feelgoods original stuff now and have to say it's right up my street! I really hope he recovers and does some more stuff.

Guest Goat Posted September 23, 2014 I'm not sure why that post quoted something from January. I didn't intend that. But there's a pic of Wilko last month.

Phantom 2,533 Posted October 22, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk...-arts-29727632- "cancer free" The sad thing is, Wilko's statement comes just a day short of the first anniversary of the death of Gypie Mayo.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted October 22, 2014 that nurse looks like she's stuck in a time warp! That greying creature with the belly next to him is the remains of the once thin and elegantly wasted Charles Shaar Murray, right? He might well go before Wilko. Rotten Ali 600 Posted October 22, 2014 Really happy for him. However, all our investment in his poor health should not to be overlooked. He may be cancer free today, but cancer has a nasty habit of making another visitation within the following year. The demise of Lynda Bellingham as a case in note. Maybe the strap line on the thread should now be changed to "Dr Feeling Better".
Guest Anwar Muhammad MD Posted October 22, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk...-arts-29727632- "cancer free" As always, it's a bit annoying how some celebrities misuse the term 'cured' when referring to their cancers. After less than one year, you cannot tell whether it was cured or not, all you can claim is it's currently in remission. Wilko was 'lucky' he had a neuroendocrine tumour, but unlucky that it spread to lots of his internal organs. And since they didn't diagnose it properly, he was operated on a year later than the cancer was discovered. Granted, this type of cancer is usually slow growing, but that might cost him dearly later, like quackery did in the case of the late entrepreneur, Steve Jobs, who also happened to have neuroendocrine cancer. By the way, Jobs died 8 years after his initial cancer diagnosis - which might idicate that endocrine tumours might be slow but aren't completely harmless. The median survival times for stage IV (metastatic) pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer treated with surgery is still well below 5 years; this cancer is not really responsive to chemotherapy due to its slow growth. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/pancreaticcancer/detailedguide/pancreatic-cancer-key-statistics
