Famous for converting the penalty in the 1974 word cup in Germany. Both ball and penalty spot ended up in the goal.

The Dutch players were more likely to be smokers perhaps?

 

Other prominent Dutch players of the era-Barry Hulshoff, Jan Van Beveren and Willy Van Der Kuijlen all died before their 75th birthday.

 

Only 2 starters from Ajax's 1971 European cup team are left: the goalie Heinz Stuy(born in Germany) and winger Sjaak Swart. The used substitutes Arie Haan and Horst Blankenburg(a German) are both still alive. ALL of the Panathinaikos starting 11 are alive if Wikipedia is to be believed.

Johnny Rep in ICU after a heart attack. Currently waiting for a pacemaker, so might be fine. For the time being, at least.

 

He has had some other health issues in recent times too, like several hernia repairs, difficulty with walking and sold all his trophies, kits and other collectibles from his career because he needed the money.

German Dieter Burdenski, unused goalkeeper for West Germany at the 1978 WC, has died at the age of 73.

 

He was also in their squad for Euro 84, once again as an unused substitute.

Thanks for having another try at this.

Here's the problem (and why a death can't be added to his Wiki) –

1) as you identified yourself the source in question is another type of wiki. Other wikis are not reliable sources.
2) there's another 2014 news article talking about him, his family, his current health here. It was updated in 2016, and no mention of his death was added – in the eyes of Wiki that is a reliable news source and it suggests he was alive in 2016, even though he had most certainly died by the time of the 2016 update.

Goalkeeper Paul Kalambay Otepa who was in DR Congo (Zaïre at the time) squad at the 1974 WC, has died on his 76th birthday.

He was an unused substitute during the competition.

His death means that the three goalkeepers of the team are gone !

He was also in the squad that won the 1974 African Cup of Nations.
