Canadian anthropologist who has alway lived in China, Isabel Crook, celebrated her 105th birthday last week. Here's a picture. Looks well, but not as well as last year.

internet sensation « Gramma » is said to have received her last rites. Don’t know if She is famous enough but She is 106 and quite known on facebook and internet. Her sister is 101 and is said to be great.

And now, she’s dead. Quite touching honestly to have witnessed her last days through her page, she and Ginga, her sister, were really appealing.

It's true there has been a strange lull in centenarian deaths lately. That can only mean a deluge of deaths over the christmas period. Brace yourself !

No less than 7 famous centenarians have died since  I  posted this a week ago.  Always seems to work that way

Happy New Year...!

Except for @time who I presume needs a sub for 2021!

Prescient? Ok, I have a feeling that 19 out of 20 of my main team for 2021 will die in 2021.

RIP to him (iirc he had "very frail now" news back in 2014 so he did quite well to live so long).

The new Father of the Hearse for British MPs is... SIr Patrick Duffy (b. 1920), Labour, Colne Valley 1963-6, Sheffield Attercliffe 1970-92, former Navy minister and one of the outspoken smaller job Shadow Cabinet members of the 80s.

And the only British parliamentarian still alive who was born in the 1910s is the 9th Viscount Falmouth (b. 1919) who lost his seat in the House of Lords in 1999.

Rotten timing, I only submitted my teams yesterday; still, it makes this years entry slightly better.

Brian Urquhart picked previously in the Poker Tourney, dead at 101: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/03/obituaries/brian-urquhart-dead.html

Date of Death seems to be 2nd January 2021.

January is shaping up as a potentially prolific month for centenarian deaths after the slow start to December.Probably helped by corona. At least one of the top 8 will surely go during the month !
