Ideas And Possibilities For 2016

Recommended Posts

Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovksy, facing charges of possessing indecent images of children, is seriously ill with renal failure.

Damn, there's a Soviet dissident whose existence I completely forgot. I remember his deportation from the USSR, but after that he didn't make Dutch news much, if at all. Perhaps the reason for that is that he, unlike several other dissidents, didn't cuddle up with loud right-wing types in the west.

No, instead he cuddled up to a DVD copy of "Minipops".

This is one of the few actionable posts on this thread. Mixing up simple facts is later stage Alzheimer's so no more than two years remain, and we've still half of 2015. 2016 you'd have some splainin to do to not put him in your DL.

Committee are you listening?

Not necessarily. He would appear only to be in the mid stages of the disease.Yes he is clearly suffering substantial memory loss in both the long and short term memory but he could go on longer than two years albeit in in an awful immobile or bedridden state. He is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Being horribly immobile and unable to remember anything?

Are they sure it wasn't just the effects of watching Lawrence of Arabia?

It was a big anniversary if TE's death last week, 80th I'd imagine.

Factoid is that motorcycle helmets were invented because of death....true dat.

Weird, we were just discussing fellows dying from too much helmet, now not enough.....

Watch out for Jerry Stiller. The loss of Anne Meara, his wife for 61 years, will break his little heart.

Canadian sitcom actor, radio showmaster and comedic writer Mike O'Brien has stage four cancer:

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-actor-with-terminal-cancer-plans-to-die-laughing-mike-obrien

He's obviously going to die soon, but his fame is probably non-existent outside of Canada.

He's died. 51. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/former-cbc-comedy-writer-mike-o-brien-51-dies-of-cancer-1.3086979

Tried to chase down any link to this guy's work to use his name as a trade off for my roster should he make it to June 15. Found a writer for SNL with same name but not him. Frankly, this guy seemed quite the nobody, eh?

Well, getting an obituary in Canada's equivalent to the BBC didn't exactly mean he was a nobody. However, his focus was radio and that isn't quite the big cultural force it once was. A bit like Colin Bloomfield with a role in a sitcom and the odd writing credit.

Actually, having read the link closer, it says he has been diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acute_erythroid_leukemia

Acute erythroid leukemia (M6) has a relatively poor prognosis. A 2010 study of 124 patients found a median overall survival of 8 months.

This has made me reconsider what I said above about him not being a strong candidate. Chris Squire to be on the 2016 DeathList? A long-standing member of a pioneering classic prog rock group, surely notable enough a person for the DeathList?

Definitely worth at least considering for 2016 depending on how his health goes this year.

And this is a post coming from the guy who suggested John Nash for 2015.

Are you taking credit for the death of a person caused by not wearing a seat belt? Did you suggest Nash for his poor safety practices? If not, fuck off.

There's a report here of his death. I'd rather await something more substantial to confirm. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/05/29/hollywood-filmmaker-who-made-a-positive-impact-in-our-culture-for-christ-dies-his-legacy-will-continue-to-influence-the-world/

Whilst having some research fun I discovered that 4 of the 5 men who directed episodes of Sanford & Son are still alive; none are spring chickens, but I couldnt find any specific health issues at this time on any of them. Perhaps better to post in Surpised They're Alive thread.
