I may be repeating a suggestion here, but Pat Boone (81) might be a possibility

Some others have mentioned Bob Dole; I would say leave him on the list as he's been something of a bad player on the US political scene for a depressingly-long time, now.

OOh, Pat Boone is Mr Clean and wealthy with good health care, though.

81 is young for him, especially since he's not a closet kiddie-fiddler or anything close, so that whiter than white image is fairly close to the truth despite some - ahem - interesting albums of cover versions.

Interesting covers?

Can't think what you mean.

An idea: Martin Shkreli, the hedge fund manager who specialises on buying the rights to old drugs and then raising the prices by several thousand percent.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34331761

Arrested for fraud.

http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-martin-shkreli-securities-fraud/

Love the top trolling he did with the WuTang album.

Shkreli now claims that...

...the government was out to get him for "teasing people on the internet" and that his arrest was part of a "social experiment".

I think British television presenter and showbiz personality Dale Winton has come across rather unwell in recentish appearances on tv and there's rumours /speculation of a drink or drug issue so I'm gonna flag him up as an outsider possibility.

I think he's had issues in the past. There have been times where he looks bloated and I don't think that's due to putting on weight simply from overeating

.. it'll be him having excessive sessions of botox & colonic irrigation. ('Pump up the bottom')

Talking of camp hosts & entertainers, Lionel Blair's getting on a bit. Bless him.

He looked slightly drunk to say the least on his lottery show earlier this year! Bit off the rails me thinks.

I have included Lionel Blair as one of my entrees in one of the "competitions " on here and I do recommend the committee consider Lionel for their list especially considering he has had life threatening health issues in recent years.

Haven't heard shit about good old Claus von Bulow in years, virtually since Sunny finally came out the coma the wrong way in 2008, but he is 90 next year.

Outside bet ?

Not advocating another poll but we could have a Jimmy riddle in 2016

Who will piss off first next year: Hill, Greaves, Carter or Young?

It's down to three starters now. Greaves & Carter have well-documented medical problems, but what of Young? He's 94 and can't live forever (apart from the fact that he's been a constant on my DDP team since I started playing, which may well have rendered him immortal), but beyond that, is anyone aware of any medical issues?

Claus keeps himself busy around this time of year.

I think Zsa Zsa will kick it for sure. I hear Olivia De Havilland has become frail and I believe she's holding just to make the centennial mark. Nancy Reagan is giving off vibes too. Kirk Douglass as well and Abe Vagoda.

Alex Trebek, 75, host of Jeopardy! could be considered in the near future.

Car crash in 2004

Heart attack in 2007

Injured while chasing a burglar in 2011

Another heart attack in 2012

Looks like he has his heart attacks every 5 years so maybe one for the 2017 list.....

A couple of sci-fi writers and/or editors maybe.

Ben Bova(84). Jerry Pournelle(86). Pournelle has fought brain cancer several years nwo, and has had at least one stroke in the past few years.

His usual collaborator Larry Niven might be a suggestion (78). All 3 well-known enough to receive numerous obituaries.

How about Addams Family cast member Lisa Loring? She's only 57, but has had heroin battle in he rlife. Her Tv "brother" Ken Weatherwax died unexpectedly at the end of 2014..

Felix Silla (78) might be a another possibility "Cousin Itt" on the above, and the insufferable Twki on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, although others provided the voices for both characters Mel Blanc generally for Twiki.

Pat Boone will probably last a long time, true enough btw; he seems to have taken VERY good care of himself over the years.

His cast-mate from Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959), Arlene Dahl (actually 91, not the 88 she claims) is a more-probable suggestion, was somewhat infamous in the US during 1950's for her several marriages; is mother of Lorenzo Lamas for the curious who don't know. Has been into astrology for some years, now.

can I put forward to the deathlist committee an idea I've had for man y years that you merely replace the 14 people who died this year and just carry on the other 36 into next year . I've noticed that often the death rate among a previous years list is higher than on that year itself, and there are so many 90 something among them I think there's bound to be a high death toll among them'.I look forward to seeing if my idea is finally taken up

Your idea will never be taken, since it would contradict one of the main rules.

A quick recap on the DeathList rules: Candidates must be famous enough such that their death is expected to be reported by the UK media; Candidates cannot be famous solely for the fact they are likely to die in the near future and only half of the candidates can have appeared on the previous years list.

There are some household names, like ZsaZsa, who are expected to be on every year's list until they die, but the readers also want some variety. Since at least half of the candidates must be replaced, the committee members should never be content with what they have and should always look for better candidates with which they can replace some of the names on the current list.

Well it's not that---it's that some people GET BETTER! So we're supposed to be stuck FOREVER with a name chosen on facts from later weeks the prior year? Asinine.

I've got a total of TWO names I'm recycling this year. And I WON the league.

Yeah, after all, Aherne and Alagiah were 50/50 punts people went with, but few would pick them again this year. I won't say no one will, because lots of folk still went for Wilko Johnson this year!
