The Old Crem 3,583 Posted December 9, 2023 https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/25000363/denmark-immigration-working-class-voters/ I think Labour has always wanted to follow Denmark but wouldn’t be able to fully get it to work. The electoral system being one issue - the Danish system means parties to the left can be voted for without wasting votes. If people did that in the UK the Green would not win seats but just cost labour seats.

YoungWillz 21,037 Posted December 11, 2023 Sunak's evidence to the COVID Inquiry is something akin to that scene in Fawlty Towers where Manuel has been instructed to forget everything about Basil's bet on the horses. "I know nothing, I forget everything. I'm from 10 Downing Street!" Nitwit! (also a Fawlty Towers reference).

TQR 14,387 Posted December 12, 2023 As voting gets underway, Mark Frenchname has confirmed that the Extremist Racist Group he leads, along with a handful of other Tory MP blocs, are not going to vote for Dr Death's bill. Ooh. 1

TQR 14,387 Posted December 12, 2023 UPDATE: 313 to 269 in Dr Death's favour. If those abstentions were 'no' votes, Sunak would've been in the shit, so expect him to pander to the ERG until the vote in the new year.

Be surprised if he overtakes Anthony Eden circa August. FFS Lord Grenville, named above, abolished the slave trade with a minority government and the Lords and monarchy against him. Sunak has a massive parliament majority and has achieved fuck all to improve Britain. 4
YoungWillz 21,037 Posted December 12, 2023 Nationality And Borders Act 2022. Illegal Migration Act 2023. Safety of Rwanda (Asylum And Immigration) Bill. FAIL. FAIL. Will probably not make it to law. Their record on this is about as poor as my showing year on year in the DDP. The hill they have already died on they are still climbing.
YoungWillz 21,037 Posted December 13, 2023 Breathtaking. Tory MPs fighting for the retention of the Steel industry and fighting for NHS dentistry? Christ, it was less than 40 years ago the Tories were shutting steel mills across the country and privatising the dentistry service. Oops, did you make a mistake all the years ago? Meantime, Sunak still pushing the narrative that he is cutting taxes for working people when they will actually increase next year. Still thinking that when Rwanda is full after 100 deportations, that his scheme will be a deterrent to people on the boats. Fuck them all to Christmas hell. And a Happy New Year. 2
