The Old Crem 3,588 Posted January 23 An attempt to bring back Truss or bring in Badernoch or Braverman before the election? 1 1
Sod's Law 445 Posted January 23 That melting block of ice that stood in for Boris Johnson at the 2019 Election debate would probably be a more inspiring choice for leader than anything with a pulse in the current Tory party tbh. Would probably bag them more votes in the next election for one.

They're staring oblivion in the face so it seems any desperate measure is to be considered. Like I said on this thread not that long back, if they go through with this every PMQs for the newbie includes every other party leader opening up their alloted time by pointing out that's three in a row unelected by the people and not so much asking for as demanding an election. The lack of anything innovative in Tory policy tells you all you need to know about their private polling turning up nothing by way of a useful idea of what they could do to convince the public to elect them next time. Tory toast by way of a few blistering by-election defeats, more internal meltdowns and a damning verdict when they finally face the electorate, Sunak's present predicament is little more than a distraction.
prussianblue 1,031 Posted January 23 They seem to truly believe that yet another new leader and being even more rabid about small boats/Rwanda will solve all their woes. Do they not do polling anymore, or is it just a skim of the Daily Mail and Telegraph comments?
DCI Frank Burnside 3,887 Posted January 24 This is embarrassing even by the Telegraph's standards. Amazing to think it was a relatively reputable paper once

Indeed desperate times for the Tories, and The Telegraph. Onwards and downwards, then.
Father Brown 209 Posted January 24 They’d be better off going into a May/June election with Sunak and sacking him when they lose all their seats instead of throwing yet another unelected PM under the bus. FTPA was repealed so theoretically Sunak can stay a while longer at Buck Pal if he’s feeling the pressure…
YoungWillz 21,044 Posted January 24 So, watching the news this morning. Once again it’s an election year and once again it’s how dangerous the world is and global threats etc etc. Straight out the “ we are going to lose an election, better tell the public how scared they should be” playbook. This isn’t going to work, the Tories are the ones responsible for a 40 thousand reduction in our armed forces.

RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted January 24 All that's missing from this spat is Claudia Winkleman in some natty knitwear and a dark, sombre rendition of an 80s classic. "I don't think Simon is the traitor, I think it's you, Liam, and you're thinking you'll play the long game and turn on Rishi eventually anyway. That's just my opinion though, but I've never been wrong before... " 2
