To be honest, I'd rather go for a drink with Laurence than with Shouty Shola.

Fuckin’ LOL

The more Sunak deludes himself with claims like this, the more the anti-Tory vote will rally when the GE finally comes, and the more fucked this disgusting party will be. Keep talking, Dr Death.

John Curtice has done a piece on this very claim on the BBC website. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68964302

Conclusion is: the raw numbers suggest perhaps (although we have no data for the chaos in Scotland) but the reason the Tories lost so many seats is because Labour voters voted Lib Dem to unseat Tories in the South and Lib Dem voters voted Labour to unseat Tories in the North. In other words, there was a collective effort to unseat Tory councillors. What on earth suggests the same wouldn't happen at a general election? You're fucked, Rishi.

There's several very active campaigns for tactical voting.  This election served as a dry run :D

Aye, and - apparently - convinced several people of the value of going  that route

And there was me naively thinking that postal votes benefit the Tories.

Putin would be proud.

Don't like judges? Pass legislation to disregard them.

Don't like the way people vote? Insist on ID and ban those who disagree with you from voting.

Feel you have a god given right to rule? Well, what's the point of elections anyway?

Meanwhile farming out control of your defence forces' payroll to a third party and I assume a private company and leaving it open to hacking by China?

If they were trying to pass an exam at a state school, they would fail. Of course, at Eton and Harrow and Rugby etc etc, they have always passed, despite their dismal record.

Eejits.

I'd like to see it, just because I don't think he can save them. Too many have seen through his nonsense snake oil.

Caught up with the local elections Newcasts Pts. 2, 3 and 4. A few interesting tidbits that came out:

1. The Tories held on to Harlow Council by 1 seat. Turns out they're counting a Tory Councillor current suspended pending an investigation.

2. The Tories ditched the entire green agenda because they held on to Uxbridge by 800 votes claiming opposition to ULEZ was a vote winner and got trounced in the London Mayoral election by the Mayor that brought ULEZ in. So good to know we're killing the planet for nothing.

3. What's next for Andy Street? Currently Conservative Solihull doesn't have a Tory candidate for the General Election. Rather than waiting 4 years to try and win the mayoralty back, could he enter Parliament and help rebuild the party after the election?

30p Lee lines up a new TV series once his time as an MP comes to an end soon. A rival to Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys.

Story in the Sunday Times a couple of days back suggested Boris' people and Farage's people are considering some joint activity to pitch the pair of them into positions that'll allow them to take over Tory operations after the pending defeat. All entertaining nonesense IMHO which suggests two things that are blatant bollocks; firstly that in the aftermath of the car crash election defeat the nation's concerns will continue to be the right-wing stuff currently being peddled by the Tories as the potential turn-the-polls-around miracle they need and secondly that Boris and Nige could act in ways trustworthy enough to build a solid basis to work together.

The thing is that Boris looked utterly miserable every single second of his premiership because it required him to actually do some work, so if he actually wants it back... it's at least a little bit hilarious

He wants the power and prestige of the office, he doesn't care about the work, he can hire people to worry about that.
