From 2022:

The man is a consistent charlatan and anyone who says he's better than the last few incumbents is delusional.

Lied to Laura K about knowing about Partygate.

Fined for Partygate.

Used the tax system as Chancellor to protect his wife's wealth.

Gave tax breaks to children's homes in which his wife had a financial interest.

Brexiteer who has allowed hundreds of thousands of people into the country every year in legal migration, but scraps infrastructure projects  like HS2.

Promises levelling up but again fails to allow for essential infrastructure like GP's, travel arrangements and local shops or even housing to be built.

That's all on top of of the trifle of disaster that is the economy and public services, all founded on the rivers, lakes and seas of sewage.

So normal prime ministerial material to lead the UK. Mind you, lying to Laura K is just not on.

BREAKING: Leading porn websites are to sue Google, after searches of ‘wet fanny’ reveal this picture rather than links to their websites for the first few pages:

Ah, the convention of a dissolution of Parliament debate, allowing those who managed to avoid scandal, disrepute and recall to jizz one last time over the green benches in the Commons.

You know, that time could have been used to pass legislation. But no, it's important to hear from those leaving the Commons hear the sound of their own voices one last time.

They could just fuck off you know.

Including in this thread as it has been an ongoing (weak) attack line from the desperate Tories for a while now:

Police have dropped the investigation into Angela Rayner's council house tax affairs, having found no wrongdoing.

OBVIOUSLY.

Paul Gascoigne has just turned up outside Daly's house with a fishing rod and a roast chicken.

So You Gov shows pretty much a tie in if National Service is supported or not but with a massive age divide - clear evidence the Tories are mainly running a shore up the core vote/ save 200- 240 seats strategy

It looks like it will be a political experiment: PVV (Wilders), VVD, NSC and BBB have finished their talks for a coalition; their factions in parliament are reading the agreement as we speak and can suggest amendments, after that we'll probably get a government again... But who exactly that will be, is still the question.

[...]

News flash in the Netherlands: Dick Schoof (67) is the intended candidate of the incoming coalition to become prime minister. He has been secretary-general of the Ministry of Justice and Security since 2020.

image.thumb.png.23315fa55c70248b29a3b83a4cc82beb.png

Schoof hasn't been active in politics up until this point and is not a member of a political party, but has been a longtime civil servant. In the last decade, he was National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, 2013-2018 and Director-General of the General Intelligence and Security Service, 2018-2020.

In the coming weeks, he'll select people for his cabinet (of course working together with the coalition leaders), the new cabinet is expected to be sworn in in the first week of July.

A case of "I've heard the name, know the face, he usually doesn't come across as an idiot but I don't know what I can expect from him as a prime minister".

He is basically a puppet surely for Wilders and the other coalition leaders.

That's literally how this works. A three or four party coalition needs someone unconnected to any of them to be the man bringing it together. If the parties don't like him, they'll bring down the government, simple. Similar to when Mario Monti ran Italy.

Often someone from the main party does actually run the government. It’s unusual to bring someone in.

Not when it's a situation like this. There isn't a truly major party in this coalition - Wilders has 37 seats out of 88 seats, the other 3 can outvote him. Add that Wilders is obviously an extreme candidate and there's no way the others would serve in a PVV-led government, so it makes sense a non-party figure would be chosen to try and be a neutral arbiter between disagreements. Whether it can last a full term feels unlikely though.

Decent chance it will partly because the PVV is polling well at the moment.
