Helen Washington, the iconic black bald dancer with the Isaac Hayes Movement, has died. She was 78. Washington had been struggling with dementia and other health problems at the time of her death.

Daughter of American dancer and choreographer Stuart Hodes reports his death: 

Danced with the Martha Graham Dance Company and was in the original casts of Do Re Mi and Paint Your Wagon. Choreographed for various ballet companies.

 

Hodes was 98.

Orla Baxendale, a British-born, U.S.-based dancer with experience as part of the Alvin Ailey School, Steps on Broadway and others, has died after consuming mislabeled cookies from a grocery story. She was 25. Baxendale, who was highly allergic to peanuts, died from from anaphylactic shock after a severe allergic reaction to consuming the product. The cookies contained peanuts, which were not listed as part of the ingredients.
